Oh, lawdy I am trying to work hard at living more peacefully with my anxiety and to not give it too much attention, but some days it definitely takes over a lot of space in my brain. I think #lyme plays a big role in my mental state, whether it be due to physical or mental effects caused by #lymedisease. I can get stuck in an anxious feedback loop surrounding my physical health (e.g., if I do this I'm nervous I'll be in pain, if I eat this I'm scared I'll have a health setback, etc.), but I'm trying to not live in the past or be anxious for the future - all we really have is the now. In terms of my mental state, I think my Lyme was left untreated for so long that it got up into my brain and is probably the main reason why I have periods of depression too. Regardless, it is what it is and I still have to be productive in unlearning my anxious thought patterns, and more importantly, controlling my unhealthy behaviors that stem from being anxious. I didn't realize until I was much older that a lot of my angry outbursts when I was younger were really due to fear and being anxious over having a lack of control and what would happen if the worst case scenario came true. Anxiety can present itself in a myriad of ways that may not seem obvious to an outsider or even yourself. Anyway, I know I can get too introspective at times, so I'll end the post with sending all the good vibes to my fellow #anxiety warriors

Your thoughts affect your hormones, and your hormones affect your health. BIGTIME. I can not overstate this enough. ‍♀️ We all know stress is bad for our health, but did you know that stress (even just perceived stress) LITERALLY increases mortality and can be the simple difference between life and death in an acute circumstance? It's literally not possible to feel stressed without cortisol rising, and impossible to feel anxious without adrenaline rising....... This means that your hormones ARE your feelings in a very real way, and this is where the mind/body connection is very apparent to all of us. ☺️ So no excuses, guard your mindset, your thoughts and your life from negativity like it’s life or death. ‍♀️ Because, babe, IT IS!!!!! Especially, since we don’t do what we should. We do what we MUST, we do what we’ve decided is essential. It’s just human nature, if you don’t make something a “do or die” standard for yourself, it’s not likely to become a habit, or a sacred principle for yourself, your family and your health. If you don’t, the world will be happy to control your mind for you. And that will leave you in a constant state of lack, scarcity, uncertainty, negativity, and “the sky is falling” type of thinking. So...if you want to be healthy, strong and happy........ think happy thoughts ON PURPOSE. Not because it's wishful thinking, but because your thinking literally changes your biology....and therefore your health, and your future. I know you think you'll be living with autoimmune for ever and that its just something you have to suffer with. Identifying yourself as your disease, letting it manipulate your choices and desires. I'm here to tell you that is not the truth. Disease is only "dis" ease in the body. We are self healing and our cells are constantly changing. I'm not saying it's going to be easy because it will be work, years of work. But we can bring our bodies back to a state of "ease". This work is inner work... self development, self actualization, self love and ofcourse the physical aspects like diet, alternative health practices (acupuncture, essential oils etc) will have to follow. If you don't start with the inner work first, nothing is going to change. SO practice positive self talk (if you're mentally attacking yourself, your body will follow with physical attack ... hence #autoimmune Maybe subconsciously you dont believe you deserve to be healthy... so start with positive afirmations, self help books, podcasts, journaling whatever works for you. "Sexual Assault, domestic violence, and an autoimmune disease lead to shame, pain, and depression #Yogasavedmylife " . . Meet Melody @thelivingsong sharing her story with us. These are her words ❤ . . "For years I lived in chronic pain, migraines, muscle, joints, & back pain. On a pain scale from 1-10 I was somewhere between 11 or 12 for 90% of the time. Between moving, taking care of the family, and the wait for referrals to be approved, I was eventually diagnosed with an autoimmune “disease" . . The meds side effects did more harm than good, so I elected not to take any. The pain & suffering in silence lead to depression. I had always known that exercise was good for both your physical & mental health so I would try to work out. Some days I would feel like a million dollar after a workout, & others I would feel like I was a million years old . . Then I stumbled across some research that explained the benefits of yoga and that it was great for autoimmune disease and to find a place for peace. In April 2017, I took a free yoga class at the local library. I loved the way I felt afterwards. My mind was clear and my body felt free. This bliss lasted a few days then life happened, I got busy & I got sick . . In March 2018, I decided that I had to get serious about my health. I started learning about reversing autoimmune diseases, chakra balancing, energy healing, & different yoga practices. I found a yoga class to attend at least once a week & I practice at home at least 30 minutes every day with 10 minutes of meditation . . My entire life has drastically changed. I have not had any bodily pain with only one headache. I am physically stronger than I have been in years. I have forgiven myself. I have forgiven my past abusers . . I have let go of things I did not realize I was still holding on to from the past. Most importantly, I have a newfound love and appreciation for myself, my body, and my life ❤ . . I am genuinely happy and at peace with my life. Because of that, the people in my life are also at peace with life. Everything around me is just better; my life, my health, my family, my marriage, .my home, my focus, my gratitude… EVERYTHING .
