La prima tappa del mio viaggio tra la zona sud-ovest e quella centrale dell’Inghilterra organizzato da @logitravel in collaborazione con @lovegreatbritain è stata Bath, la famosa città termale fondata dai romani il cui centro storico è patrimonio dell’umanità Unesco. Tu sei mai stato a Bath? Ti piacerebbe andarci? Se non ci sei mai stato io te la consiglio vivamente, anche come gita giornaliera da Londra. Le terme furono costruite ai tempi dell'imperatore Vespasiano, nel 75 d.C., quando Bath veniva chiamata Aquae Sulis. Famose in tutto l’Impero romano, il complesso comprendeva anche un tempio dedicato a Minerva. La visita è molto suggestiva e il flusso di visitatori è ben regolamentato. Oltre al complesso termale formato da più piscine si visita anche un interessante museo che ripercorre la storia delle terme ed espone oggetti rinvenuti in loco. Comment the number of times you’ve visited Britain...is it 1? 2? 10? Or “Not yet!” Would love to see how many folk have visited our land of cobbles, ferrets and thatch! . We’ve had a brilliant amount of sun recently, so that means fancy-pants trips to a country home where I pretend to own the place and eat copious amounts of National Trust cake in the gardens. Mind you, if someone offered me this incredible thatched cottage with it's own private red phone box I could happily agree. How bloomin' perfect is this? This quaint (as our American chums would say) cottage is in lovely Wiltshire and is reflected beautifully in the River Wylye. . What a stunning place, surrounded by incredible history. Not far from here is the awe-inspiring Stonehenge. Construction started at that ancient place around 3,100BC with the massive sarsen stones from Marlborough, 20 miles away. The smaller bluestones came all the way from the Preseli Mountains of South Wales, a distance of almost 200 miles! How they did it is still up for debate, but I think some sort of hard cake substance was probably used as a way to slip the rocks into place. Hence the term "Rock Cake".
