Story time and life update • Two weekends ago Wyatt and I decided to ride to the bluffs for the breathtaking scenery. On our way back the horses were excited and knew the trailer was parked close. Like most horses, the gelding I was riding “Chocolate”, was ready to run from the excitement of almost being back to the trailer. Chocolate, being a competitive horse, did not like the fact of Wyatt and Modelo being ahead, I figured why not run and catch up. I let him go and like always he started sprinting up towards Wyatt. As we started approaching them I realized there was a fallen mesquite tree so I began asking Chocolate to slow down.. that wasn’t going to happen. He grabbed the bit and wanted to keep going. I turned him last minute and ended up dumping myself over his shoulder. At this point Chocolate had no place to turn because he was boxed in by the trees. He was still hot and ready to go so he spun around, which lead to him stepping all over me. Luckily, I only came out with a fractured nose. This could have been much worse but I strongly believe God was watching over me. Accidents happen and they are apart of riding horses. Extra precautions can be taken to prevent accidents such as this and I solely blame myself for not thinking through all the possibilities. On a lighter note, the swelling in my nose has gone down tremendously! Although, I will possibly be having surgery in the near future to fix some breathing problems. ‍♀️
