SPONGE STAMP // So out of the hundreds of activities we have shared this one would definitely have to be up there with one of our favs . The plan was to do this while Indy was sleeping, you think l would learn that plans and kids sleep don’t mix by now. BUT Indy was actually good and way to engaged to be her usual crazy destructive self Willow kept asking to keep doing more AND we worked on soooo many skills (leg lifts, balancing, bimanual, grasping, weight shifting, sensory, side stepping, reciprocal leg movements, squatting) . ALPHABET WIPE LIDS // The big reveal.....I was saving up my wipe lids to make up an activity with the alphabet. Willow is all about letters, like the other day she randomly said in the car “Mum Yellow starts with Y ‘y y y’ and do you also know it ends with W” seriously 4yr old genius and don’t get me started on her enthusiasm about the letter of the week for preschool. . Anyway this was an absolute hit. Same activity with 4 different physio skills thrown in.....her excitement #lettersarelife swipe for videos . I got my final 26th lid this morning (imagine my excitement we are as bad as each other) and came up with this idea this morning.....All you need is a laminator, some letter cards, Velcro dots, paper if your all about it being pretty ‍♀️ and of course your recycled wipe lids. LID POP // Just your usual Sunday morning shenanigans stamping on cartons to pop the lids off. . Most of you know l try to re-use most things before throwing out (l have a cupboard ‍♀️). I had quite the collection of empty almond milk cartons so today we put them to use. CELLOPHANE RAINBOW // Just occurred to me that Willows toilet standing aid is perfect to use in physio . A bit of rainbow collage as she practiced stepping up. Indy was either throwing the cellophane everywhere, pushing Willow out of the way or pretending she needed my help because Willow does. Someone has been quite the delight today....like I’m talking zero meltdowns, no rudeness, frustration levels low and transitions even her OT sensed her happy and carefree presence this morning. . Then there was yesterday, where we had a huge intense 1.5hr meltdown because she was so worked up and frustrated that the car in front of us was going too slow ‍♀️ life is about balance l suppose ‍♀️ #carrage . MAKING HER ENGINE JUST RIGHT // We are having the worst run of sickness since this colder weather has hit ‍♀️ Ava is off home today unwell (although it doesn’t look like it lol). . So ANOTHER cancelled appointment today and another day at home. Willows behaviour has been all over the place lately so this morning l spent the morning doing things l know makes her ‘engine-just right’ (the alert program). . This meant a slow and calm start to the morning, massage, therapeutic brushing and stretching. Then we practiced blowing (oral stimulation) and had some sensory play. This has been the best morning she has had in a long long time. A bit of calmness to our chaos is exactly what we (I ‍♀️) needed! . STICKY COINS // supination is really hard for Willow. Her arm is so tight and l hate seeing her struggle to be able to turn it. But that’s the reality.......CP is pretty shitty sometimes. Anyways l used double sided tape to put on our magnetic coins, she had to try to open her hand to get it stuck on a ‘flat’ palm (also tricky), then needed to try to turn her arm to make sure it was in her hand, finally she used the magnetic wand to get it out. .
