As much as I dislike this derogatory term that the media have labelled Meghan with I fully encourage each and everyone of you to become a "birth brat" all this means is that she knows her birth rights, has educated herself, made informed decisions based on that research on where, how and who she wants to birth with!! What's so bad about that?! Here at heartstrings I support every type of birth!! All I care about is that you have had choice and made the right decision for you and your baby on the day. That can only lead to a positive experience xxx #birth #birthbrat #beabirthbrat #bratandproud #meghan #meghanmarkle #royalbaby #baby #pregnant #pregnancy #informedchoice #informedconsent #informedbirth #empoweredbirth #empoweredpregnancy #duein2019 #midwife #mybirthmychoice #mybirthmyway #mybirthmybabymychoice #mybirthmybodymybaby #mybirth

During my workshops we always touch on birth rights, standing up for what’s important to you, your partner and your family during pregnancy and birth. . Not only is it essential to understand what your rights and choices are during birth in order to feel confident, positive and informed for your own experience... but also the more we collectively stop being passive bystanders in our babies births... the more we start to slowly change the whole maternity system, the way women are treated in pregnancy & birth and we open the door for women everywhere to have a more positive experience and a healthier emotional postpartum. . It’s more than just having a whimsical birth experience. Its changing society as a whole artwork by @kimothy.joy . #love #birthrights #positivebirth #hypnobirthing #mindfulmammauk #northumberlandhypnobirthing #birth #pregnancy #goodvibes #womensrights #advocacy #hypnobirthingclass #birthbrat #beinformed #educateyourself

Whatever your opinion is of Megan Markle, with regards to the birth of her baby, she is being anything but bratty. . The press should be utterly ashamed of themselves for trying to label her in a negative way simply because she's doing things her way. . She is a woman who knows her rights. . She is a woman who is taking control and ownership of where she gives birth, who is present and how it happens. . EVERY woman has the right to be a 'birth brat'. . EVERY woman should be a 'birth brat'. . Be empowered. Take charge. Take control. And even if the Queen of England tries to tell you what to do, you tell her where to go! . Your birth is your birth and you control every part of it.

According to the Birth Place Study, women who have given birth before (with a “low risk” pregnancy) are actually SAFER giving birth at home.⁣ ⁣ They are less likely to end up with medical interventions such as Caesarean Sections and assisted, instrumental births. ⁣ ⁣ First time Mums are only slightly “safer” in a hospital. With a 4% difference in adverse outcomes. The data needs to be analysed carefully as the parameters for what is considered an “adverse outcome” may not be what you imagine.⁣ ⁣ I suggest mothers read the Birth Place Study (as well as a host of other sources of EVIDENCE) when they book a course with me. ⁣ ⁣ My mothers are informed and will shake their heads at articles like this. Poor Meghan. Deemed a “birth brat” for making her own birth choices. I thought we were in 2019, not 1919?⁣ ⁣ The fact that the article suggests mothers-to-be will select home birth as it will now be “fashionable” is insulting. Hypnobirthing Mothers (like Meghan is rumoured to be) have decided to invest their energy into the best birth knowledge. To say they will follow a trend, instead of following their mind and what is right for their babies is laughable and patronising beyond belief.⁣ ⁣ If a woman wants to birth at hospital as it makes her feel safer, support her. If a woman wants to birth at home, support her. Let her choose what is best for her.⁣ ⁣ “The serious, bloody, potentially dangerous business of childbirth.”⁣ ⁣ It’s comments like this that frighten women. It’s comments like this that are the reason why I teach women Hypnobirthing. ⁣ ⁣ Yes childbirth is serious and bloody...⁣ ⁣ Seriously bloody wonderful.⁣ ⁣ #meghan #birthbrat #homebirth #birthwithoutfear #hypnobirthing #informedbirth #empoweredbirth #birthchoices #kghypnobirthing #birthfacts #positivebirth #positivebirthstory #womenrule #royalbaby #meghanmarkle #princeharry #hypnobirthingworks #empowered

Bloody hell.⁣ ⁣ It’s never ending. ⁣ ⁣ If it’s not people getting their knickers in a twist about how many times the poor woman was photographed holding her bump, she’s then portrayed as a diva and a brat throughout the media for knowing exactly what she wants. ⁣ ⁣ Homebirth.⁣ Hypnobirthing.⁣ Privacy.⁣ ⁣ HOW BLOODY DARE SHE?!⁣ ⁣ This media portrayal yet again feeds the idea that we should be seen and not heard. It feeds the idea that our birth experience is not OURS to experience. It portrays women who are confident, informed and empowered as “Brats”.⁣ ⁣ And if feeling in control, knowing what you want and making informed decisions that are right for you and your baby make you a Birth Brat then we should ALL be more Birth Brat. ⁣ ⁣ Being a Birth Brat means feeling calm, relaxed and in control no matter how your birth plays out... And that sounds pretty damn good to me! ⁣ ⁣ If you want to discover your inner Birth Brat come join our next term of mum-only antenatal classes that start next week - Link in Bio.⁣ ⁣ #birthbrat #bemorebirthbrat #baby #pregnancy #pissoffmedia #bullshitheadlines #thepositivebirthmethod #mother #motherhood #homebirth #positivebirth #meghanmarkle #privacy

Yes! This is also why doula support can make a huge difference in the whole experience...you and your choices matter, mamas! Could not agree more with these words from @positivebirthmovement - "Interesting to see the portrayal of Meghan Markle as a 'diva' and a 'brat' in the media because she wants to give birth her way. We see this so often when women want to take control of their birth choices - whether they are royal or not - and are told, "You can't control birth, go with the flow, and don't forget it's all about the healthy baby." Often they are mocked for making plans, or for hypnobirthing, or for saying they might try not having any pain relief. Isn't it time that we started to acknowledge that, whilst a healthy baby is extremely important, we need to relegate this ambition to the baseline of our birth expectations, rather than the pinnacle? There are many more things that matter to women in birth - respect, dignity, choice, consent, being listened to, and being at the centre of decision making - to name just a few. It's ok for these things to matter to you. It's ok to want to have some control over what happens to your body in labour, just as at any other time in your life. It's ok to plan, dream, and make strong choices about your birth. You matter too." #womenmattertoo #letmeghandecide #birthbrat #birthzilla #meghanmarkle #royalbaby #royalbirth #feministbirth #givebirthlikeafeminist #positivebirth #positivebirthmovement #ahealthybabyisnotALLthatmatters #feminism #regrann ___ #atxdoulas #yourbirthyourway #youmatter #yourchoice #empoweredbirth #doulasupport #youdoyou
