The reality behind the smile with a broken ankle. Let me tell you this has been really hard emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially. The struggle is real people. I wasn’t prepared for this, no one is. That’s the beauty of it. I think that’s when we can chose to learn from it or become victims to it. It took me a while at the beginning to accept that I was broken. I was mentally stronger than I was physically. I was so stubborn that I continued to walk on a broken ankle, drive, workout, go about my day and never did I feel any pain - that was for 1 week. In my head, I was fine. Thanks to my support system they convinced me to get it checked out. To my surprise and the doctors, it was indeed broken and another week later through an MRI, I also had torn ligaments. This small sprain was about to turn into my temporary prison. It may have been the universe telling me to SLOW DOWN, to take care of me and for the first time prioritize my health and well-begin. For that I’m thankful. WHAT I’VE LEARNED: To be PATIENT with myself. My biggest pet peeve is being late. Let me tell you how this has made me so late and irritated with myself. Physically I couldn't move faster so I've learned to add an extra hour just for getting around in crutches/scooter. ‍♀️ Love your ALONE TIME. I had to learn to quiet the negative and emotional thoughts that come with being stuck at home, alone with just YOU. I've learned to be at peace with my inner thoughts and mastered traquility. I read a lot and took my imagination to another level. ‍♀️‍♂️ ACCEPT SUPPORT. I'm truly blessed for the people who've supported me and offered helped. I don't know what I would've done without them. A strong support system is so important. From rides, to lunch dates to taking me out in crutches. Anything to help me feel ”normal”. I’ve enjoyed every moment.
