Funny story. A few weeks back I felt incredibly unwell. During that period I was, as always, frustrated with being sick and could not find my mojo. Next minute, blood tests revealed I had glandular fever, low vitamin D and something spurring up an allergic response. ▫️ One of the most common things I hear from my clients is: “I’m always tired”. ▫️ Next sentence “I should be doing so much more”. ▫️ Um… huh? I was asked last week by 2 ladies that approached me “How did you get to be so confident?” . The answer: Failures. Lots of them . My early-mid 20’s were where many lessons were learned and my confidence began to build as a result . 19-I bought my first house . 19- Got married . 20- Opened my first business . 22- Nearly had to close my business . 22- Had $42.86 in my business bank account (I never forget the number) . 22- Hustled harder than I ever have in my life and learned how to become extremely resourceful to bring in revenue to keep the doors open and pay my 6 full time employees (this was all before social media so it was door to door & word of mouth) . 23- Brought in $647,000 into my business as a result of my creativity and resourcefulness then continued to build my business . 25- Sold my business, building and land just 3 hours after listing it for sale . 26- Got divorced . 26- Moved back home with my parents . 27- Sold my house . 28- Moved to St. Louis . Events seen as failures in the moment, but looking back they are what I credit to being who I am today. I have been lied to, cheated on, pushed away & disregarded in my life multiple times but every set back was setting me up for the present day. It could have crushed me or crafted me- it was my choice. I could have taken my ball and gone home or chose to not let it change my heart and move forward . Through life’s failures, slip ups & stumbles your reaction is what shapes you and enhances your character, values & moral compass . Confidence builds like a candle dipped in the wax pot- every time it goes down- it comes up bigger and stronger than before. Layer upon layer you develop it . Next time you face a hardship or failure just know the universe is testing you. It’s how you react that matters.
