Yesterday was a big day for the Cicero Storefront! We had the pleasure of welcoming three new warriors to Team Syracuse! PVT Ackerman, PVT Peacock, and PVT Pought. It was a crazy process but these three stayed resilient, adapted to issues that arose, and in the end ended up with the jobs they wanted! They all received a $20,000 sign on bonus, and over $700 in GI Bill benefits, along with 100% tuition to any SUNY school. SGT Scarlett, SSG Toussaint, SPC Brown, and I couldn’t be more proud to have these three on our team! This month marks my one year anniversary at St. Joseph's. It's crazy to look back and see how work has ramped up. Having thousands of raw moments with people in a clinical setting is draining yet immensely rewarding. But that also means my job is the hardest it's ever been. Yet in the midst of the grind, it's an even bigger blessing to have Zoe in my life. Each moment she spends with me is overwhelmingly precious! Looking forward to what's to come in our life journey together. ♥

We had the opportunity of witnessing 42 nd Oz -Stravaganza at the suburb of #SYRACUSE the #Village Of #Chittenango yesterday! The scintillating fireworks was the main attraction last night, and we could see people and especially children eagerly awaiting and seating on ground for the event ! Many many brought their seating arrangements like folding chairs or seating mats ! Apart from the main ground - Community Recognition Park, People were everywhere on the roads, parking lots or open space , from wherever they could see the fireworks! The enthusiasm and conduct of the event reminded us of fireworks during Indian #Dussehra celebration or #Diwali- Festival Of lights ! The village of Chittenango may be famous for the exotic #ChittenangoFalls or the OZ-Stavaganza ! That’s not all ! It’s also the birthplace of famous American author L.Frank #Baum ! In 1978, Librarian Clara Houck set out on a mission to acknowledge the history of the Village of Chittenango as the Birthplace of Baum who is best known for his #American fairy tale- “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” to the delight of children around the world. Thanks to Clara who organized the very first celebration. Local children dressed up as OZ characters and paraded around the library parking lot on May 15th. Then they went inside, had birthday cake and sang Happy Birthday to L. Frank Baum. A lot has changed since then. The festival became a multi-day event. Changed names from Oz-Fest to Oz-Stravaganza, and saw crowds increase from a few hundred for the parade to several thousand for the festival. The event is now run by the International L. Frank Baum & All Things Oz Historical Foundation. A non-profit, 100% volunteer organization who does it all for the love of Oz. Yesterday when the Wonderful Wizard Of Oz was played during the event, it reminded me somewhat the fervor of Ramleela played during Dussehra celebrations!
