When I was a kid I went through a time where I was homeless. Being homeless in NY breaks you in the worst way. Such a big city to feel alone and invisible. Anyways somewhere down the line I got a job through this program that helps kids. I worked with other kids my age helping kids younger than me. It helped me so much. I learned to teach, and I learned to be patient. I learned to make friends. I learned to not allow stares to get to me. I learned to make money and save money. I learned to not hate the world around me despite it feeling like it’s out to get you. The program I joined was Project Sol and if still exists and you are in NY I strongly recommended you get involved. Your mental health is so important, everyone needs to be around a few brothers or sisters that can help guide the way, that got you back no matter what. Not to mention the balls you get to be a part of!! That’s a place that had my back, I’ve never forgotten it and I’d recommend it to anyone. You’re not alone. ❤️
