#repost from @modustrialmaker • • • Version 2.0 of WAVE shelving unit....assembling with NO glue or screws, totally press fit. I designed this in Fusion 360 using the sculpt environment. Fusion sculpting is incredibly simple and intuitive, and allows you to push and pull a 3D shape into whatever organic shape you want. For this design, I wanted it to generally slope so the shelves got wider to the top and have a couple main pronounced ripples. Next I used the Fusion Slicer plugin to automatically generate 2D pieces that interlock together to form the 3D wave shape. then it was a simple matter of importing the template generated by fusion slicer into @inventables #easel software, and cutting it out on my x-carve. After a bit of sanding everything press-fit together, no need for glues, screws or any other fastener. I just finished sketching up my next #cncproject Ive been needing a fractional to decimal chart to hang by the CNC...so I made one. #asido I find it quickest to do the bulk of my modeling in @sketchup_official then export as a .dxf and finish the final touches in Vcarve. As an example: I did all this in SketchUp but will now move all the = signs and zeros to be in line with one another, over in Vcarve. What do you think?
