Happy #nationalcoffeeday aka "herbal coffee day" - for me that is! ☕️ .⠀ Being Portuguese I started coffee at a very young age as it has just been part of our culture and family traditions to drink coffee in the morning and after dinner. ‍♀️ .⠀ It’s been probably 7 years since I quit drinking coffee and I’m so grateful for alternatives such as herbal coffee which is usually a combination of chicory, carob, and/roasted barley. It tastes and smells like the real deal (well almost haha) and makes me feel not so left out in the coffee culture.⠀ .⠀ A lot of people ask why I don’t drink coffee anymore and although there are many reasons, here are a few of them: it was a huge trigger for my anxiety, I found it hard waking up in the mornings, I wasn’t in tune with my body / recognizing when I was actually tired. In other words: I was drinking down more caffeine instead of resting when my body needed it! To be honest I just have so much natural energy now that I never had before, and I love it. ‍♀️⠀ .⠀ I’m not saying coffee is the enemy at all! I’m just saying everyone reacts different to different foods and drinks and its important to tune in and notice how you’re body is reacting to what you’re putting into it and when you are becoming reliant on something. .⠀ So whether you are trying to quit or just reduce your caffeine consumption I would give herbal coffee a try because you might just love it.. who knows! Also, its a great option for late night bedtime coffee cravings since you won’t have to worry about being up all night ⠀ ps.
