Yesterday we started a beautiful new relationship with our local food bank.
.
It’s very satisfying to be able to pay it forward and know that people in our community will get to have fresh veggies and fruit to put on their tables thanks to our excess.
.
But, more than that, it’s a humbling experience to meet people like Sally and Bill who work tirelessly to keep the Blaine Food Bank up and running 365 days a year.
.
They, along with other volunteers (pretty much all seniors) pickup, load, sort, bag and distribute all the food that goes to our local communities of Blaine, Custer and Birch Bay.
.
Because of them senior citizens, children and the working poor are able to benefit from the generosity of others.
.
The Blaine Food Bank distributes food three times a week and their Friday distribution can always use fresh veggies. If you’re local and have a garden with excess consider donating...We know first hand how much they’ll appreciate it!
So, I tried to start this post with a joke about cucumbers, but every one i found was entirely too filthy! WTH?
.
So instead I’ll just tell you that PICKLING CUCUMBERS are starting to POP!
.
We know how much y’all love your pickles so head on over to our website and get your name on the cucumber list now!
.
No pre-picked quantities here! You decide how many pounds you want and we’ll pick to order. ⚖️
.
We can’t guarantee a date but you will be contacted and can confirm a pickup day
.
FYI: we should have cukes for the next month or more!
.
If you know anyone else who loves to pickle, make sure and spread the word!
.
To get your name on the list visit our website: www.homefarm.farm
.
We are an all natural farm! No pesticides or herbicides just clean and delicious berries and veggies! Cucumbers are $2lb.
.
PS. Yes, we also have dill
Hello!
.
We have quite a few new followers so it’s time for a little share session!
.
Most of you already know that we ditched life in the Seattle suburbs and headed north to convert an old golf driving range into a home and community farm. But here are a couple fun facts about the jobs we’ve had in the past.
.
Bridgette grew up in Snohomish and worked at the @maltbycafe in her late teens and early twenties. If you’re from the area you know what an awesome job that was to have! (insert cinnamon roll emoji )
.
Farmer Dan grew up in Connecticut and as a teen ran his own successful car detailing business from his family home. His dad used to get mad because he worried that he’d run the well dry washing all those cars! But, he made so much $ doing it, what could he say?
.
If you’d like to know more about our farm there is a link in our profile to a lovely article about us, that was published this month, by @eatlocalfirst
.
Thanks for all your support friends. We hope to see you at the Farm soon!
xoxo

Nothing brings people together like good food
