We used a silhouette of a woman - because there are a few poems in this book that were dedicated to a woman - and put together illustrations of some objects. Each of these objects - water, peony, magnolia, sunset - is found inside the poems. We were very charmed by the poems in this book, some of them are inspired by the places the author went to - even our hometown, Bali. It's amazing to see something we know so dearly from other perspectives. Book cover design for Five Feet Apart written by @rachaellippincott, Mikki Daughtry and Tobias Iaconis. This Indonesian edition is translated by @daniel.dian and published by @bukugpu @fiksigpu. A book surrounding the lives of two people with cystic fibrosis, a condition that affects the lung, making them are strictly apart at least six feet apart to reduce the risk of cross-infection, as contracting bacterial infections from other CF patients can be life-threatening. (But they fell in love!) We focused on an imagery that was portrayed in the book: vines, leaves and flowers shaped into a lung. From now on, we want to include the killed covers of our projects - the options that were not chosen in the end by the client, but we were proud of nonetheless. We want you to see the process in which a cover gets chosen for print, and give another chance for the rest of them to be seen by the world. Raymond Carver is one of our favorite authors and this book is one of our favorite short story collections - and when it comes to that, it's hard to pick the best imagery to represent the different themes portrayed in this book. We used a house in a pink color as a focal object, a symbol of home that represents many people, many rooms inside, each with their own lives and stories, the color pink represents human flesh and the life of being a human. Most of the stories are told in the houses of the characters, or deal with family issues and the comfort (or discomfort) of a home. Our favorite stories? Book cover for Asteroid dari Namamu, written by @galehpramudianto and will be published by @basabasistore. This is a collection of poetry based on the author’s admiration towards the outer space. Although this is not the first time we work on the cover for a book with astronomical or astrophysical themes, every project is always special. For this cover, we played around with the title. We imagined a scene where someone very lovingly looked up to the sky, saw the sky objects and immediately thought of someone - a sentiment that must’ve happened to everyone of us at some point in our lives. We used contrasting color palettes, with dark blue and gray as the background and many pop colors as the sky objects, to show a little bit of playfulness.
