I get a lot of messages that often start with something along the lines of, “I’m driving my partner/sibling/friend crazy because I just don’t seem to be ‘over it’ yet”. Today, this is a message to myself. I wish it were that easy. I wish self-care was enough. I wish I wasn’t a bit of a masochist who believed I should really *feel* the pain of losing both of my parents, so medication is a “cop out”. It’s not. It’s a tool for survival. And increasing my dosage isn’t in the interest of numbing myself from reality, but just to be able to get through the day. It still hurts. So so so much. Medication doesn’t make that go away.
