I love working in pen. I had an art teacher for many years who banned rubbers and now I very rarely use them myself, I love the way that mistakes are corrected in more creative ways or become part of the drawing, every mark and line is documented.

What are you listening to? I always work to music... it has the power to transport me to another place so I wanted to capture a bit of that escape in today’s drawing. At the moment I’m loving listening to 80s music! How about you?

For throwback Thursday #tbt I’m going way back to the second painting I ever did, back in 2012 and really at the beginning of everything. I was trying to think of something to paint and one day walking in the town I grew up in I came across this chip shop (sort of fat french fries for my none British followers!). The whole street had been regenerated except for the ‘savoy’ which had just been left to ruin, all the other properties had had so much attention lavished on them while this was left to decay, so I decided this was what I was going to paint. A late one today... been busy in the studio creating some new screen prints, you can see some progress shots in stories It’s funny that the 365 challenge is a bit trickier to complete after a whole day of creating ‍♀️

#inspiration is getting absorbed looking at the work of artists I love... my favourite exhibition ever was ‘all too human’ at the Tate earlier this year. I love portraiture and the human form, as well as storytelling through figurative work so it probably not a surprise!
