Honestly so thrilled and honored to be featured in the June/July issue of Working Mother Magazine @workingmother with the amazing @ayeshacurry as this issue’s #covergirl! The piece was about creative summer workwear fashion...and the outfit is one I’ve worn to work quite a few times! Swipe for more! ⁣ ⁣ On the topic of #workwear fashion & #motherhood, below is an excerpt from a fun Q&A I did with @dai...so curious what your answers to these questions would be: ⁣ ⁣ Q❓: Who is your ultimate style icon?⁣ ⁣ A: @janellemonae hands down. I love that she juxtaposes primarily black tailored menswear classics (i.e. tuxedos) with creative/envelope-pushing, feminine prints, fabrics, & the occasional pop of color. I’m always on the edge of my seat to see what she’ll wear next!⁣ ⁣ Q❓: Describe your dress code at work.⁣ ⁣ A: Business casual. I generally like to wear knee and tea length dresses with tights. I alternate between flowy, bold, patterned, and tailored, minimalist dresses. Depends on my mood! This works well for busy mornings when I am running out of the house and transitions well from day to night.⁣ ⁣ Q❓: And what about your Friday outfit?⁣ ⁣ A: I am generally pretty exhausted by Friday (meaning comfort is key) so I will pair black stretchy skinny business pants (or culottes) with a blouse. It’s comfortable, work appropriate & chic. Generally by the weekend it’s all black. I wear black high waist tights (love Zella tights) & a black or white T (love @LNAclothing). I run after kids in this outfit, workout in this outfit, everything. ⁣ ⁣ Q❓: What outfit makes you feel totally empowered?⁣ ⁣ A: I love a bold colored knee length 3/4 sleeve bodycon dress (I have quite a few of these). Makes a statement that is elegant, powerful & feminine.⁣ ⁣ Q❓: If you could change one thing about the accepted professional dress code for women, what would it be and why?⁣ ⁣ A: I would love it if bold colors and styles were more accepted professionally. I am fortunate that it is accepted for me but I know this is not the case for a lot of women in various working environments. I believe in expressing creativity through clothing & I don’t think that doing so is unprofessional.
