This has got to be the most basic diy mouthwash recipe out there. • I cup distilled (or previously boiled) water. 2 tsp baking soda. 6-8 drops peppermint oil. • Some people like to add a teaspoon of xylitol not only as a sweetener but also for it’s antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. I personally like it without, but because I’m trying to let go of my dependence on sweet stuff. • As with most homemade recipes I recommend making small batches and make a fresh one when the current one runs out. Whoever said #grandmaknowsbest hit the nail right on the head! . So I’m sharing a traditional Spanish homemade remedy that has been handed down through several generations. Funny thing was that I wasn’t even aware this one existed until last week. I was complaining of a sore knee and my mum just sprung out this little pump spray bottle with an amber looking liquid inside. When I asked her what it was she said: “Rosemary rubbing alcohol.” I nearly did a back flip! How did I not know about this? . This ointment has been used traditionally in Spain to relieve tension and muscular pain. It is rubbed on with a massage. It is refreshing and smells lovely! . Here’s how it’s made: . Take plenty of fresh rosemary sprigs, place in a glass jar or bottle and cover with rubbing alcohol. Close tightly and leave to sit in a dark place for min 15 days or up to 6 weeks. The solution will turn an amber color which is absolutely normal. . Rosemary alcohol rub is also used traditionally for massaging tired legs, stimulating circulation and preventing hair loss but should NOT BE USED if you suffer from skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema. Just need to add here that this remedy is for general sore muscles. Obviously see a doctor if you do have a muscular pain that won’t go away! . . . Scoop out the flesh of the avocado and blend together with the flesh of the apricot to make a smooth paste. • That’s how easy it is. Surprised? Oh yes, it’s also vegan and cruelty free! • Avocados are anti inflammatory and full of nourishment for the skin in the form of vitamin A, fatty acids and antioxidants. I am so into bentonite clay. Let me tell you why. . After using #bentoniteclay for a while now to make my #diytoothpaste, I have also started to use it as a face mask once a week and I cannot tell you how pleased I am with the results. My skin feels baby soft and super clean. Visibly. I mix enough water with the clay to make a soft paste, spread it on my face and leave for 20 minutes. I then wash off with warm water and a washcloth. . Those who have followed me for a while know that I do not give easy praise to products unless I have reaped the benefits and have had time to assess them and bentonite clay has got to be way up there with my favorite #naturalbeautyproducts . Although this type of clay can be ingested, as I haven’t tried this myself and don’t know enough about this kind of use, I’m sticking to the traditional external uses which are: . For face masks. For oral health and gums. For hair masks. For soothing dermatitis. . What’s the big deal with bentonite clay? . Bentonite Clay not only has a range of nutrients but draws out toxins from the body because it is negatively charged so therefore is ‘attracted’ to the positively charged toxins in the body, bonding with these and pulling them out. .
