***Infertility / miscarriage awareness post*** After struggling for two years with infertility, Russ and I decided to seek further help and proceed with IVF (due to endometriosis). We transferred an embryo on March 15th, and much to our surprise, it worked and we finally fell pregnant! We saw the heartbeat three times and heard it once (we had more scans than usual due to our situation). However, on May 9th, we went in for a routine ultrasound at 10w5d to find our baby’s heart stopped beating - that moment will forever be embedded in my head and never forgotten. I had to undergo a d&c procedure to remove our baby and it was tested for any chromosomal abnormality. Yesterday, I found out our baby was completely healthy and he had no abnormalities whatsoever. Just when I thought infertility couldn’t get any worse, it did. My body failed me and couldn’t sustain a pregnancy and our baby ended up dying for no good reason. . Although these past three weeks have been the hardest weeks of my life, I’m hopeful for the future & know one day we will be able to hold a sweet baby in our arms. My belly is swelling for a completely different reason than most my age. So long uterus! I have a uterus marred and misshapen by disease, and it's destroying other organs and attacking my nerves in my spine. I've had an inkling of a feeling since I was 19 that this was gonna happen, but thought it would happen in my late 30s. There are many days where I just wanted to take a kitchen knife and take it out myself because I was in such a dark and painful place, both mind and body. But I'm tired of waiting and tired of slowly giving up things, exhausted from fighting my own body. I just want people to know that someone can be standing right in front of you with a smile on their face "acting normal" and they can be hurting inside so much they want to crumble to the ground in a fit of rage screaming and uncontrollable tears. And I want people to know it's okay to struggle. And it's okay to reach out for help. And it's okay to talk about hard things. How are we supposed to make peace with things we are too scared to talk about? Thankfully I get to keep my ovaries, because going through menopause at 26 would be terrible. Kids aren't in our future at this point but if we do decide to expand our family, we have surrogacy or adoption to look forward to. It's going to be a long journey to recovery, but I've been suffering for decades, so what's a little bit longer to get better? We will be in Oregon for surgery June 11th. Please pray, send good vibes, rain dance, whatever you may do, our way. Much love to those around us who have reached out, been a shoulder to cry on, and taken me to countless doctor visits. And the biggest thanks to my husband, who didn't sign up for this but has been my absolute rock through these last tough years.

Others eventually do if you put in the leg work of several emergency room visits, questions and concerns as to what is going on with your body?!?! But too few dismiss it, hand you a birth control prescription and say: this fixes it (THAT was said to me on several different doc visits over he years). Keep being your own advocate.
