We’re not looking for luxury.
Our private living space is a 16’ dome with no electricity and just enough space at the seams for geckos to pattern the ceiling but when it rains it sounds like we're standing outside under banana trees.
We walk a short path to a propane heated outdoor shower but standing under the water together we can feel the breeze and look up at the stars.
Our kitchen is shared and susceptible to rodents but tonight a fellow volunteer shared his homemade dhal to pair with our homegrown meal.
It's not luxury, but it's completely beautiful -

Bye bye bra!! I’m looking for inspiration for a #declutterchallenge for next month; charts or lists work best for the control freak within who loves structure.

#TBT to my time in Northern Thailand near Chiangrai, spending a week at an elephant sanctuary in the Golden Triangle. So much sweetness, gentleness, fun and even some kisses from the residents Bonus trips to Laos and Myanmar and a Thai cooking class. #favoritememories #experiencesnotthings

The past couple weeks have been among the happiest of my life. After months of planning, I finally got to live out a road trip I had dreamed about for a long time. I drove over 2500 miles to explore four states and four national parks ( + two national monuments). I got to take the controls of a WWII era open cockpit biplane that ignited a whole new passion for flight that I didn’t even know I had. I saw the breathtaking poppy superbloom in California with @jdavideos and we ate all of our favorite west coast foods and shot the sunset over the Hollywood Bowl overlook. From there, I headed out on my own and saw thousands of giant Saguaro and Organ Pipe cacti in Arizona, the Painted Desert badlands and Petrified Forest, the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon in Utah (with a foot of snow), and the wild west landscapes and fascinating buttes and mesas of Monument Valley (seen here), where I *almost* got stuck in the mud on the 17 mile unpaved Valley Drive loop. Then mom flew out and we experienced the desolate beauty and searing dry heat + sunshine of Death Valley in a convertible, and the bright lights of Las Vegas in the same day (where she won $300 on penny slots)! We had an absolute blast in such a short amount of time. •
I hung out with old friends and made new ones, shot some of my proudest photos ever, rocked out and photographed one of my favorite bands at a killer show, froze my ass off and burnt up on the same day, navigated through an unexpected foggy mountain snowstorm, got spooked by livestock in the middle of the highway, and went sleep deprived to capture a perfect sunrise. I did it all. •
It’s so good to be home (especially since I missed my flight back from LAX and had to live in airports for 36 hours ), and I’m only beginning to process everything, but holy cow I’m so grateful to have all these memories under my belt! #experiencesnotthings
A penultimate post from Bagan, in Myanmar. The archaeological area of Bagan, peppered by thousands of stupas, temples and pagodas is a fascinating place. The temples and pagodas must be entered barefoot and the whole place can be explored via fun electric bikes.
Can you recommend a destination to discover, such as Bagan?

Exploring Bagan, in Myanmar. The archaeological area of Bagan, peppered by thousands of stupas, temples and pagodas is a truly beautiful place — and some of the best places to discover are "off the beaten path", just like this one.
How about you? Can you recommend a destination to discover, such as Bagan? |

Which photo do you prefer? These two were shot only a few minutes apart. We were blessed with a very beautiful sunset on that day at the Wa Ale Island Resort in Myanmar (@waaleislandresort)
We are working on our review of the Wa Ale, but meanwhile, we are travelling again — check out our Stories for the latest!
