home is a feeling first time hiking for elevation in alabama. this blanket of blue ridge mountains and hiking within it was the high i needed. after getting a dose of elevation a couple weekends after bonnaroo i had to make a quick trip somewhere. 3 waterfalls, 4 trails, 2 lakes, 2 sunrises and 2 sunsets. and i. am. full. so thankful to have a good boy by my side and thankful for friends that say yes after just sending dates and location. don’t neglect what your soul craves what’s your soul food? #alabama #explorealabama #cheaha #cheahastatepark #cultivate #soulfood

Upper White Creek Falls was the 2nd falls we visited after White Creek Falls, which I posted a few days ago. I didn’t mention before, but those falls have a 75-foot drop, in case anyone was wondering. Getting to Upper White Creek Falls was somewhat unnerving. We had to climb up the right side of White Creek falls, then went over the rocks at the top, and through a little rock crevice. (side note: I would never recommend taking children there) I literally had to belly crawl through due to the height of my backpack. It was wet, it was slippery and I’m not gonna lie, it was a little scary, but this girl is no sissy, I thrive on challenges, ask anyone that knows me! Once getting through I was rewarded with Upper White Creek falls and the awesome teal beauty of Valentine Pool! Can you see the The creek was crystal clear with the rippling of a sandy bottom and it was near impossible to tell the depth of the water in different places. This place was like being in a fairytale and I bet it’s the best summer swimming hole! So excited to say that Ryan and I hiked the entire length of the White Trail yesterday! 6.5 miles (including the climb to 1,286 ft. Shackleford Peak) for Hike 8/52 in 2019 It was great to get back on the trails after a few weekends taken up with rain, work, and illness. I'm slightly behind in my #52hikechallenge but looking forward to catching up during spring break next week. Can anyone recommend a trail to try next?
