When you notice face gains I started intermittent fasting 4 months ago (thanks to my wonderful husband). Speaking of fasting, I absolutely love how @drstevengundry included intermittent fasting in his new food pyramid as an almost basic need for our health. I was familiar with religious / spiritual fasting before #plantparadox but I had never heard the term ‘intermittent fasting’. 52% of the population of US is pre- and diabetic (type2) with all the collateral damage that comes with that, and if you swipe right to see the old food pyramid you understand why. Our bodies are not made to handle a ‘feast’ mode continuously, we need to give it a break with alternate periods of fast, for both physical and spiritual reasons (they are both interconnected anyway). It’s a matter of balance. In the Orthodox religious fasting, there is a 40 day fast (vegan and some days Complete) before both Christmas and Easter, go figure! This is more than religion, this is ancient wisdom. I think it all starts with truly loving our bodies, understanding how smart they are and how hard they work to keep us on this earth. Breakfast is like any other meal. 1000s of studies prove that theres no significant fat reduction, or weight reduction or ‘improved energy through out the day’ happening with having breakfast ▫️ In fact, skipping breakfast does help with fat loss and normalizing insulin levels ▫️ Here is the science behind it We have a hormone called the Human Growth Hormone (HGH) which is a fat-burning hormone and also plays a major role in muscle building. Skipping breakfast or fasting increases catecholamines, which increases resting energy expenditure, while decreasing insulin levels, which allows stored fat to be burned for fuel! ▫️ Just have a think: In our nutrition curriculum, we are told that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But who makes/ influences the Nutrition curriculum?
