The difference between the end of my short off season and second check in of prep may not seem a lot but I’ve dropped 5/6kg whilst still on high cals on training days and minimal cardio Diets are hard. I’ve seen a lot of posts recently about 6/8/10 week transformation courses to jump on and guys that’s great if that’s what you choose to do. I’ve certainly done it before but do you know what? I never got anywhere except fatter and more unhappy sticking to a meal and training plan when you have no knowledge of why your doing so just wasn’t working for me. Educate yourselves in the how and why. Learn how to make sustainable changes that you will keep to for life. All about balance. Why should you deny yourself that chocolate at the movies ? Balance people. Not restriction. Yes at the moment my diet is restrictive but that’s prep. I’m still eating porridge and bagels and I’m good with that. It’s to hit my goals. The gen pop however just want to feel better in themselves and loose a bit of weight and for that Lifestyle changes need to me made. You all have a diet. It’s just a shit one. Look at that and change that. Don’t look for the extremes it could be as simple as swapping that can of Coke a day to Coke Zero and boom that’s 250cals down right there. Simple swap and still tastes good. The same with exsercise. Don’t go in all gung-ho thinking your going to smash every day at the gym and go for a 5 mile run your going to fail! Start off small. Get a Pt. Someone who’s got good credentials who you can talk to and be honest with. They can show you the basics and impart knowledge. Start off small and build up. Don’t take it to extremes. I love this sport but it is extremely hard and taxing. It isn’t for everyone. Don’t use prep as a reason to diet or to stick to a diet. BICEPS! One of the muscles I struggle with most... so I figured I would share the top two things I found most helpful. 1. It’s important to know your anatomy.. I left a picture on the last slide to help. But your bicep is a little more complex than just two muscles.. Certain exercises target those muscles differently, and you can switch things up by using different grips, range of motion, weights, and variations. •••• For example Curling movements where your arms are in front of your body (cable concentration curls, preacher curls) keep the long head from being fully stretched, and will better target the short head. Curling movements like incline dumbbell curls and hammer curls, fully stretch the long head and target it more specifically. •••• 2. Start your workout with your biggest mass builder. This is typically the exercise you can lift the most weight. Standing dumbbell curls are typically the go-to. Start with your heaviest weight, this way your muscle is fresh and not fatigued. Prior to and After training you should always use at least 10 minutes to take care of your body. ▫️ When it comes to foam rolling here’s some things to adhere to: 1️⃣ TAKE IT SLOW. Moving too fast you will mix some very crucial spots and possibly cause more damage to the joints. 2️⃣30sec HOLDS. When a tender spot is located hold pressure for no more than 30 seconds. Too long and you can bruise the muscle or cause more injury...not long enough and the spot will take much longer to heal. 3️⃣NEVER ROLL AN INJURY Foam rolling is for scar tissue release not to fix an Injury. 4️⃣ACTUALLY DO IT It’s a tasking event no doubt. But don’t take it lightly no matter what the workout was. Even cardio.
