Choose bottle in the store wisely to save time on retouch. Second. Plan your shoot to avoid mistakes and retakes. Especially when you’re using liquid. Once it’s there, you can’t really wipe it off without losing too much time. Third. The retouch will and must take time. I finished it off quite fast and still see a number of improvements to be made. Since I didn’t do this for a client I’m ok with that. It took me approximately 2 hours to set up and shoot and around 2,5 hours to retouch and finish this post. I really appreciate it. Today I wanted to try a lighting setup using colored gels on each side to see how that would turn out. You can experiment a lot with different colors which is really fun. You know what’s kinda cool? The background is actually black but by giving it a higher boost of flash you can make it look grey. Who else is retouching in front of the TV? ✋✋✋Tested out this setup with 2 v-flats with my Alex and wanted to share it here. A few things on this: + The BTS actually has the v-flats further apart or else you wouldn't be able to see the full setup. I was shooting through a narrow space in between. +I call this the "ultimate clamshell" as the subject is surrounding by all sorts of light. There's probably a real name for it but I'll stick with this thanks + Kinda complicated but I love the edgy futuristic look which was the goal. You can simplify this (another post coming!) but sometimes I like to test how in control I am with complicated setup (see it as a test) + A light meter is key here to avoid losing your mind. + The result photo is SOOC with 1 small curve adjustment. + Of course, I used the @xritephoto to control the colors better.
