The mystical Giant’s Causeway is one of Ireland’s most exotic and intriguing places. Jutting out dramatically into the sea, the Giant’s Causeway is a collection of 40,000 interlocking basalt columns about 60 million years old. Science claims that it was created long ago by quick-cooling lava. However, Legend has it that Fionn Mac Cumhaill (An Irish Giant) and Scottish big man Benandonner are responsible. One day after enduring insults from Benandonner, Fionn built a path to use as stepping-stones to reach Scotland, which was then ripped up by Benandonner. The result was the Giant’s Causeway.
