Ha! “Crowning moments“ are SO fun to watch and to experience, but what about those times in life when we are “left clapping?” What about when dreams *don’t come true? >>> Nine years ago, I was Miss Oklahoma USA and my dream was to become Miss USA. That dream fell short. . . . Have you ever made big plans for life, only to see those plans fail? Maybe you’ve asked God for something in prayer over and over, but it feels like nothing’s happened. Maybe you feel like God has withheld from you? Maybe your story is more “Where were you God?” Maybe it wasn’t an opportunity that felt lost, but a person? . . . “...Lord, if you had done ____________ differently.” “God, if only this… God, why that? . . . . . . >>> *Where is our hope when circumstances feel heavy? Is there purpose in our pain? Is God good? Trustworthy? . . . This is where I was sitting years ago. In my pain and wrestling, the Lord pressed these three truths on my heart. . . I hope they’re for someone today! . . *Cliff-notes version* 1. GOD IS NOT DONE. Just because that one thing happened or has brought you pain does not mean it is over. Your life may look like an unfinished painting—or even a huge mess— but that doesn’t mean that the end result will not be an absolute work of art, a masterpiece. Have faith in the process and remember that God is oftentimes more glorified in our journey than in our destination. . . 2. LIFE IS HARD *AND* GOD IS GOOD. One does not cancel out the other. When something painful happens, it doesn’t mean that God is not good. (In fact, sometimes it is proof that He’s good). Be watchful for His goodness *despite your circumstances. God has a most miraculous way of redeeming our pain and giving us purpose in it. (Some of our greatest passions are birthed out of our pain). . 3. THE AUTHOR OF YOUR STORY IS FAITHFUL.  Stop asking God why, and start remembering the Who. . . . *** Continued in comments***

Nothing beats ‘Daddy and kid’ pictures It was so fun last weekend to return to a place we used to take walks around when we were just dating. Coming back with THREE boys was quite an adventure. ___ Harrison asks for ‘Daddy’ so much throughout each day. The sweet bond they have is a beautiful thing; Vincent is often exhausted when he gets off a shift but he always finds time to read to Harrison (and the other two boys, of course) books and play loud music for him to dance to. Harrison can be quite a handful at times, both mentally and physically, yet Vincent handles all of these hurdles with grace and shows fierce and protective love for little Harrison. ___ Remember the dads during #downsyndromeawarenessmonth ! They work so hard and, though they may not always show it, having a child with special needs is tough for them, too. STOP AND GIVE THANKS I just so happened to catch a headline this afternoon that said “Notre-Dame Cathedral of Paris is on fire”. I quickly turned the news on and my heart sank. This beautiful church was consumed by flames and piece by piece of the church was falling. This tragedy made me take a hard look at my surroundings and how much I take for granted. I am so thankful for the health and happiness of my family. Far too often I get caught up in complaining about the things I don’t have when each day I should be giving thanks for the things I do have. I want to encourage you to give thanks each and every day for the things you have in your life. We are far more blessed than we realize.
