It was a photo of this view taken by @alynwallace that prompted me to have a go at astro photography. It wasn’t looking great at 3am, but at 4am I could see a star out of the window of the van and legged it to the beach. Not perfect conditions and only a small window before dawn, but I quite like the cloud. The bright ‘star’ reflecting in the sand is actually Jupiter - 365 million miles away. The cloudy light of the galactic core behind it is nearer 25,000 light years away. Sort of puts everything into perspective!
