Our legendary masterpiece of the day is "ASTURIAS" (Leyenda) performed by the Genius Legendary Classical Guitarist Mr. ANDRÉS SEGOVIA TORRES born in 21 February 1893 d. 2 June 1987 was vertuoso Spanish Classical guitarist from Linares, Spain. He is regarded as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and the Godfather of the classical guitar. Many professional classical guitarists today are students of Segovia, or students of his students. Segovia's contribution to the modern romantic repertoire not only included commissions, but also his own transportations of classical or baroque works. He is remembered for his expressive performances: his wide palette of tone, and his distinctive musical personality, phrasing and style. Segovia was aware of Flamenco during his formative years as a musician but stated that he "did not have a taste" for the form and chose instead the works of F.Sor, F.Tárrega and other classical composers. His transcriptions included J.S.Bach and Albeniz. Segovia's technique differed from that of Sor or Tárrega or Emilio Pugol. Segovia was awarded many prizes and honors, in 1981 he received Marquise of Salobrena prize and in the nobility of Spain and the Danish Sonning award in 1974 and the Ernst Von Siemens Music prize in 1985, and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1986. And today's masterpiece "Asturias" is one of his dozens transcriptions. Asturias, named simply Leyenda by its composer, is a musical work by the Spanish composer and pianist Isaac Albéniz. The piece, was originally written for the piano and set in the key of G minor. Segovia's transaction was in E minor. Today is the Birthday to one of the guitar monsters, virtuosos, Mr. AL DI MEOLA born 22 July 1954 is an American Jazz fusion, Jazz rock, and Latin Jazz guitarist, composer. Al Di Meola first rose to prominence as a blazing jazz fusion artist before his playing matured and he began to conquer other styles, such as acoustic Latin music. He was soon taken with Larry Coryell’s blending of jazz, blues and rock in the late 1960s, which would become known as fusion, and knew then that this was the type of music he wanted to pursue. He has become respected as one of the most influential guitarist in jazz to date. In 1971 DI Meola enrolled in Berklee College of music in Boston. In 1974 he joined Chick Corea's band Return To Forever. He is four-time Grammy  winner as Best Jazz guitarist. He has engaged in successful collaborators with bassist Stanley Clarke, keyboardist Jan Hammer, violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and guitarists John Mclaughlin, Paco De Lucia and Frank Zappa. Di Miola was noted for his technical mastery and extremely fast, complex guitar solos and compositions. He has unbelievable fast right hand technique. Di Meola became arguably the most important pioneer of Shred guitar influencing guitarists such as Yngwie Malmsteen, Richie Sambora and John Petrucci. He recorded 24 studio albums. In this video clip Al Di Meola  performing at Berklee Valencia campus his "MEDITERRANEAN SUNDANCE" composition. "Mediterranean Sundance" is the third track on Elegant Gypsy (1977), the second album by Al Di Meola. "Mediterranean Sundance" consists of an acoustic guitar duet with flamenco legendary guitarist Paco de Lucia. The song is a complex blend of jazz and flamenco influences.
