Gosh, I totally remember my OPT time after I graduated Northwestern University School of Law... . I couldn’t find a H1B visa sponsor. A pure nightmare. #2018bestnine - #H1BVisa . . I started applying for this visa in late February and the process finally ended in late November, right before Thanksgiving. Now I don’t consider visa limbo one of my ‘best moments’ of 2018, but having my visa status lingering at the back of my head shaped like 99% of my 2018. . Context: the H1B visa is a business visa where a company can sponsor your stay in the US, and it is lottery-based. However with newer, stricter immigration laws being enacted, and with rising applicants from all over the world, winning the lottery doesn’t guarantee a visa. I won the lottery, and submitted extra evidence to the government, but I eventually was rejected. And with laws fluctuating and immigration offices understaffed with too much paperwork, I still don’t know how long a grace period from this visa rejection is, and I didn’t want to overstay my welcome and risk future visa applications, so that’s why I moved out of my NYC life in less than 3 weeks . . Overall, waiting for this visa SUCKED, not gonna lie. I couldn’t leave US borders; I didn’t know when the result would arrive; I knew that if I got my visa, I’d be bound to a company. And during those months of waiting, I felt like my entire life was put on hold - I couldn’t make long-term decisions, I couldn’t dream bigger than my circumstances. . But this experience wasn’t fruitless - I learnt how to focus on the now. There was absolutely no point worrying about the visa outcome when I had 0 control over the decision and 100% faith in a sovereign God who wants the best for me. Even though there was constant stress looming over my head, I committed myself to working as hard as I could in my job, and investing as much as I could into the people in my lives. Because God placed me in NYC during that season, so I will be faithful with where I am. Plus, I couldn’t leave, so might as well make the most of my life ‍♀️. . I’m still fresh from this particular part of my life so I’m still processing. Someday I’ll see how this all fits in a grand plan. Until then, immigration systems ought to embrace globalisation! And I can travel again!!!

Пост не оправдания ради, а понимания для, о работе и моей американской визе. ⠀ Написала я значит в предыдущем посте, что не работаю и мне в директ прилетела дама на крыльях ночи, с закрытым профилем и посылом, что я женщина-собака, раз посмела такое написать. Честно, я сначала громко орнула-гоготнула, потом ахринела, что мне, простому неизвестному человеку подобное могло прилететь и даже накатала ответ, но не отправила. И без того походу даме я не по нраву или просто попала под её рассылку гнева. ⠀ Работать или нет — однозначно выбор каждого, иногда его нет. Наличие возможности этого не делать, даже отсутсвие возможности, и т.д. Кому-то просто в кайф, другим нет. Но бомбить от того, что кто-то НЕ работает, тот ещё прикол. ⠀ В общем решила, что можно и здесь рассказать, то о чем я уже неоднократно на протяжении четырёх месяцев рассказываю знакомым в личных переписках, когда они сами интересуются. ⠀ А точнее о моей Визе Жены. Да-да, именно так она называется. ⠀ Уже не секрет, что мы с Мужем — иммигранты в США. ⠀ Легальные иммигранты, дядечка Трамп, все как ты любишь. ⠀ У мужа рабочая виза H1b, у меня соотвественно виза H4 (был бы у нас карапуз на момент получения визы, он бы тоже имел H4, но теперь если это и произойдёт здесь, то станет карапуз гражданином Америки, хах) ⠀ Что же за зверь такой - H4? ⠀ Для многих действительно зверь. Зверь, который не позволяет официально работать на территории страны. Казалось бы прекрасная отмазка для творческой, местами интровертной личности? В какой-то степени так оно и есть :) Но для тех, кто все-таки не готов на подобное идти — это сущий ад. ⠀ Работать нельзя - учиться можно, практикую сие удовольствие и планы имею космические :) ⠀ Прелесть визы h1b и h4, в дальнейшей её трансформации в вид на жительство (в грин-карту) и этот момент разумеется откроет больше дверей, как мне, так и Леше, но на это нужно время. Такой вот шаг. Такие плюсы, такие минусы. ⠀ Вопрос из разряда - «Какой смысл тогда переезжать с таким геморроем?» приравниваю к бессмысленному. ⠀ Никакого. ⠀ Если хочешь - надо пробовать.
