Reminder: we rise by lifting others. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Emerging from guiding the women’s healing immersion this weekend. What a privilege to share knowledge with eager and receptive students. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ The never ending theme of body shame, fear, self-sabotage, grief, unprocessed exits, unconscious behaviour, trauma and severe stress was touched and dissected. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ We steal our own joy by thinking of the worst case scenarios. This is caused by turning on stress by thoughts alone. We do this because the body still to this day keeps score of everything that has not been addressed from our childhood. The inner child comes out when we put on our armour and we protect. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ We protect because we are afraid.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ This does nothing more than burn out the nervous system and puts havoc into our state of being. Stress and high levels of cortisol becomes our new normal. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ When we change our state, we regulate the way we breathe and therefore we change our behaviour, which then changes our experience, which then changes the emotion, and in that moment, we change the course of possibility. This is embodiment. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ When we embody our body, we become limitless and free from our own misery and suffering. ⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ Liberation of energy is called joy. Trust in the outcome, allow a greater and invisible intelligence to take over. Because trusting means it’s already happened. You have to surrender and get out of your head and into your heart. Give your body new information and it will become a new mind.⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣ As we exited what we started, it was an honour to bring in medicine woman @ssanyu_letgoandletlove to facilitate our closure. Use it when unexpected stresses come up and you need some centering. . . ❤Adapted from a great little book "Breath Perception" by Barbara Kipfer.❤ . . INSTRUCTIONS 1. Sit comfortably with arms straight out and parallel. 2. Make a fist with right hand, wrap left hand around right, press heels of palms together and extend thumbs up 3. Focus on thumbs as you breathe in for 5 seconds, out for 5 seconds then hold for 10 seconds. 4. Try to work up to 30 cycles or 10 minutes of this breathing. Start by aiming for 2 to 3 minutes. . . "I want to make yoga my exercise but I'm scared of losing muscle!" ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I get this a lot since I used to do a lot of weight lifting, endurance sports, and intense exercise before making yoga my preferred exercise activity. I also had this worry when I realized I wouldn't be lifting weights at the gym while i went off for my yoga teacher training in India for a month. I was more excited to do yoga and leaving in a few weeks so i tucked that thought away to deal with later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I came home after a whole month of no "intense" exercise. Instead i had a whole month of daily yoga and walking. I got comments that I've gotten leaner, i look stronger. I felt more limber and strong-- in the way I could hold up my own body weight for long periods of time with an even, smooth breath. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I felt more at peace with my body, too. One thing about a regular yoga practice is that it breaks my ego down and reminds me of what is most important. What self love really feels like. I wanted to prioritize my functionality and my ability to bend and move freely. I LOVE me some intensity, so I'll still play around with HIIIT and calisthenic workouts, kettlebell circuits, even get a day pass at the gym to throw around some weights. But you can bet that most days, I'm just doing yoga. Not just because it can build/maintain muscle and strength if I want it to, but because it makes me FEEL good. and when you feel good... you have this glow that automatically makes you LOOK good. No matter what size, what muscle mass %, no matter what weight. . A year later and i look at myself in the mirror and surprisingly, my body's kinda the same size. I have little less muscle definition, but i'm okay with that. What has changed is that I can look at myself without wanting to change anything. And I'm okay with whatever shape my body takes. . that's REALLY how yoga (among other things) has changed me. i talk about other ways in my video "getting flexible!! + how yoga EVERY DAY for a year changed my life" ❤️ : @_wideopenaperture

question for you: what kind of things would you do if you'd be paid to do it, no matter what it was or how "successful" it would be? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ honestly, i'd be: -cooking vegan meals -cleaning/organizing my house and living space -taking courses (aka studying/learning), reading, writing -helping/guiding others to their best self- especially via nutrition and lifestyle counseling -yoga, coming up with yoga flows, body movement -playing board games and drinking wine with my girls ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ those are the first things that come to mind, but i know there are plenty more i'd love to do with the life i have. some of these things i can't realistically implement as much right now. but the first step is to really identify those things and FEEL happy about them. i dunno what yet but i'm sure i'll be guided to some opportunity or a method to fit all of those into my life. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ years ago in an older video i said that i'd love to go to india for a yoga teacher training. a couple years after that, i actually did go! and i completely forgot about that video/the fact that i was contemplating the trip even that long ago until it was brought to my attention. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ so maybe, if you start thinking about what you want now, with no expectations or conditions, it will become a reality in the future. if you read this far, and still have time, what would you be doing if you got paid for it? @_wideopenaperture
