No one really knows if this is the Ram-Setu, but space satellite pictures taken over time have confirmed that the a stretch of land formation visible between Dhanushkodi and the Sri Lankan mainland is certainly a man-made one. . . . Slowly but surely the lost land has started attracting the intrepid travellers looking for whacky offbeat destinations. Remembering the colors of Gangour from a few years back at the Umaid Bhavan Palace Hotel, Jodhpur. A tradition originating from Rajasthan, India the Gangour festival is a celebration of marital bliss, fidelity and the spring season. Goddess Gauri (Parvati) the wife of Lord Shiva according to Hindu mythology is worshipped by unmarried women during the festival to seek blessings for a prospective happy marriage while married women pray for their husband's wellbeing during Gangaur. I remember the cultural puppet show and the Rajasthani ghoomar dance performed by highly skilled folk artists at the Taj Umaid Bhavan Palace during our stay here a couple of years back.
