***UPDATE*** The silicone worked!! The caulking silicone I used (from a previous post) stayed on the fabric without any issue and even enhanced the color. The silicone gives the tail a tighter, more snug fit, so I need a little extra time to get in and out of it, but no biggie. Just a bit of wiggling. . . Flow--do I flow better through the water? Possibly. The silicone is weatherproof, so it deflects the water and I do feel less drag when I swim. Not sure if I swim faster with it or not, I have yet to time myself with this alteration. . . Comfort--it's very comfortable! The silicone has a bit of stretch to it, so I'm not smooshed in the tail AND it provides a little insulation, so my legs stay warm. . . Would I recommend it Honestly, it's a bit early to tell. I want to say yes, but I've only swam in it like this 3 times since finishing. The purpose of applying the silicone was to help the fabric keep its form and color and reduce stretching. With swimming 3-4 times a week and different photoshoots, the fabric lasted me 6 months. So it'll be a while until I can fully determine if I recommend doing this or not. . Until then, stay tuned and thank you for following my update!
