Close up of a cruise outfit. A red and black argyle maxi dress caught my attention at Zara (online) last Spring. It looked more Autumn to me and I was puzzled by its presence in the Spring Fashion line up at Zara. It was expensive by Zara standards and I decided against it as it was not Spring like at all. I went back and looked at it several times. It has a fine pleated quality in the fabric and the sleeves were interesting. Then, it went on sale. It was never in the stores that I saw and there were only a few left in my size. I ordered it and really liked it. I styled it with a red and black Merino wool/ cashmere vest I found in a Gothic Quarter boutique back in 2015 when we were in Barcelona, Spain. A lava red boiled wool kimono jacket from Eileen Fisher is layered over the vest. I purchased the E.F. Kimono jacket befor our 2013 river cruise through Germany. A stack of vintage Bakelite bangles mixed with some hand painted artisan bangles are in my wrist. I have on a fabric leopard necklace my mother found in Italy from one of here visits there. I am literally decked out ( outside on the deck) balcony of our room. I realized after the pictures were taken that I only had on one earring. All decked out on the outside deck of our balcony. I am wearing a red argyle pleated maxi dress I found on sale at Zara ( online). Paired it with a red and black Merino/cashmere vest I purchased in Barcelona, Spain during another cruise in 2015. It was in a small boutique tucked inside the Gothic Quarter. Over that is a lava red boiled wool kimono jacket from Eileen Fisher. I purchased that in the Fall of 2013 as I was preparing for a river cruise through Germany. My Frida Bag is hiding behind my Bakelite encrusted wrists. A Gucci belt is peeking out and was my birthday gift to myself this past September. The Last layer of the fifth outfit in my Georgia O’Keeffe inspired winter capsule. The @ottodame pants are peeking out from underneath a wool poncho found on sale @andotherstories right after Christmas. It has the same colors in it as the pants. I have cinched it at the waist with the @justcavalli_official brown leather belt with distressed metal buckle which I found last year @therealreal .. on sale. This is my first outfit from my Georgia O’Keeffe inspired winter capsule. It is a project I have been working on since I returned from Santa Fe, New Mexico last July. It was finished in December as a few of the pieces were Christmas gifts. I happened to see a video put together by @dariaandronescu that built a winter capsule wardrobe around a painting by Georgia O’Keeffe. I was inspired and studied all the pieces in this YouTube Video ( Daria does a brilliant series of capsule wardrobes built around art and artists). I looked at the silhouettes, shapes, colors, textures and number of pieces included in the capsule. It gave my plan structure! I shopped my wardrobe for most pieces. There were 4 pieces ( hat included) that were new as they were Christmas gifts and/ or After Black Friday sales deals, I still have one piece at the tailors. The hat was made for me by @lilliputhats I commissioned it last July after failing to find a Georgia O’Keeffe hat in Santa Fe. I was hoping the museums would have them or a local milliner.. they didn’t. My husband put a Deposit the hat and I set pictures and a hat band hand crafted by a Navajo artisan to Toronto as that is where #lilliputhats is located. I have several of her hats and knew I could count on her to make this hat just as I envisioned it. I picked it up on December 6th at the Chicago OOAK Show. Lilliput Hats is always my first destination when attending this show each year. The silver and turquoise jewelry is all from Santa Fe. I have collected it over the years and bring home a piece when I visit there. It is a tradition. The black belt bag worn as as a shoulder bag is from @daphnyraesfashion from the Netherlands. A Midsummer’s Night Dream... Shakespeare in the Park! Chicago sends it’s Shakespeare Troupe out to the parks every summer to perform an “adapted” play from one of Shakespeare’s masterpieces. This year it was A Midsummer’s Night Dream. The goal is to make Shakespeare accessible to all Chicagoans at many levels! The poetry and language remains true to the play, but it may be set to Rap as was the case with some of Puck’s passages in this play. The play has local settings added: The Bean, Millennial Park, Buckingham Fountain, and a bus stop... it is a blend of the old and the new! A reference to the passing Metra train was woven into Puck’s lines. The play is also “streamlined” for younger audiences in mind. It was a huge success. I am wearing my @hm dress. It was part of the TWO DRESS MESS as H& M changed their sizing without any alerts...unlike the ones they put in the & Other Stories site (a subsidiary of H&M). I cut the long slip that is attached to the dress and realized it was actually a size too large. I ordered the size smaller, immediately. I love the dress!! The larger dress can be worn with a belt, but I wanted the loose unbelted look, so I ordered the size smaller. Here is the size 6 ( formerly a size 8). I have paired it with the @shrimps Antonia bag, @ganni white boots, @katespadeny white flower earrings and a white, glittery tassel chain necklace.
