A very good friend of mine asked me about the where abouts of the Cartier Tiara with the cushion yellow diamond set in the middle coz what is posted in internet as "reliable" information it turns out to be a vulgar joke. The Tiara with the yellow diamond is a Cartier tiara the one with the more freely sun lines is a Chaumet, also as it is obvious the Chaumet is the one belonged to Princess Irina Yusupov and the one depicted on the B/W picture on the table and not the one made by Cartier. Please see the wonderful Chaumet Tiara worn by princess Irina. Irina Alexandrovna Romanova was born on July 15, 1895 as the eldest child and only daughter of Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich and Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna, daughter of Emperor Alexander III of Russia. Despite her maternal grandfather’s position, her title came from her father, who was Nicholas I’s grandson. This made Irina only a Princess of Russia, not a Grand Duchess. This difference of titles made her the most eligible woman in Russia, since, unlike her Grand Duchess cousins, daughters of Nicholas II’, of whom she was the only niece, she could marry among the Russian nobility. Irina spent part of her childhood in France, and spoke French better than Russian; she was considered a shy child. This shyness caught the attention of Prince Felix Yusupov, heir to the greatest Russian fortune, who also was enchanted by her beauty. Nevertheless, the imperial family did not approve of the union, due to the homosexual cases (which Irina understood) of Felix, that included the Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich. They ended up marrying in 1914, and the ceremony was the biggest event of the year. When they were still on honeymoon, World War I broke out, in which Felix did not serve. The first and only daughter of the couple, Princess Irina Felixovna Yussupova, was born in 1915. The following year, Felix, along with other nobles, carried out the murder of Grigori Rasputin; both he and Irina considered him responsible for the unpopularity of the Romanovs. Nicholas II was revolted by the assassination and exiled the Yusupovs in Central Russia. This exile would save the family a year later, when the Russian Revolution of 1917 broke out. They managed to flee on a British ship in 1919. In England, they left their daughter under the care of Irina's parents; the child would only be cared for by her own parents from the age of nine on. The couple moved to France where they founded the Irfé boutique. Soon, the family fortunes were over and they had to keep up with their own work and money obtained from libel suits, in addition to Felix's memoirs, who died in 1967. Irina died on February 26, 1970, being buried alongside her husband in France.

Princess Irina Alexandrovna of Russia who, with her husband Prince Felix Felixovich Yusupov, went into exile in Paris following the Bolshevik revolution and founded the fashion house “Irfe” - the name comes from the first two letters of their forenames. Her husband, Felix Yusupov, was one of Rasputin's assasins; in the night of the killing, Irina invited Rasputin to her palace at the request of Felix, who knew that her invitation was the only way he would have come and suspect nothing.
