The Long Walk, Galway City Immortalised in song and with the distinct charm of Galway written all over it, the Long Walk is one of Ireland's most recognisable streets . Looking across Galway Bay to the Claddagh area of the city, the Long Walk is a relatively late addition to the Galway streetscape having been built in the 18th century as an addition to Galway quay via the Spanish Arch. Now designated as Architectural Conservation Area, we hope these wonderfully colourful houses overlooking Galway Bay will be around for another 300 years or more . . #ireland #irish #galway #wildatlanticway #ireland_gram #travel #visitireland #travelbug #instaireland #nikon #cityscape #discoverireland #streetscape #mountain #tourireland #igtravel #tourismireland #bucketlist #yourwayireland #wanderlust #loveireland #instatravel #vista #vacation #travelgram #irelandtravel #irishcentral #roadtrip #wanderireland #nikonD3400

Kylemore Abbey, County Galway It's one of our favourite views in Ireland - looking across Pollacapall Lough to the abbey beyond. Kylemore has served quite a few purposes since it was first built in 1868 - a grand family castle, a working abbey and even a boarding school. However, its status as one of Ireland's most cherished buildings has never wavered and Kylemore's popularity today is a testament to the work of Mitchell Henry, the original owner of the castle 150 years ago . One of Britain's wealthiest men, Henry's relationship with Ireland was rather different than many of his contemporaries at the top of British society. Henry had a genuine respect for Ireland and the Irish people and, together with his wife Margaret (herself from County Down) they looked to the beautiful surroundings of Connemara to build a home in which to raise their family. Kylemore took four years to complete but sadly, the Henry family only had a few years to enjoy their incredible home as Margaret died in 1875. While Henry continued his work in helping Ireland gain greater autonomy, he spent less time at Kylemore without Margaret by his side. After being sold off, the castle eventually came into the possession of an order of Benedictine Nuns whose previous abbey in Ypres, Belgium had been destroyed during World War I. As such, Kylemore Castle became Kylemore Abbey and the Benedictine Nuns continue to operate the Abbey today . . #ireland #irish #galway #castle #ireland_gram #travel #visitireland #travelbug #instaireland #lake #discoverireland #nikon #mountain #tourireland #igtravel #tourismireland #bucketlist #yourwayireland #wanderlust #loveireland #instatravel #vista #vacation #travelgram #irelandtravel #irishcentral #roadtrip #wanderireland #nikond3400

Portrush, County Antrim This week, the eyes of the sporting world are on this incredible stretch of coastal scenery as The Open Championship returns to these shores for the first time in almost 70 years . Royal Portrush Golf Club will play host to what promises to be a truly memorable Open around some of the most impressive holes in golf. Portrush's standing as one of the most beautiful links courses in the world owes everything to the natural sand dunes and coastline of this spectacular part of the north Antrim and Derry coast. While it may be all about the golf this week, this kind of scenery is year round and is more than worth a trip even if golf is the furthest thing from your mind . ©️: @tourismireland . #ireland #golf #antrim #irish #ireland_gram #travel #visitireland #travelbug #instaireland #discoverireland #discoverni #coast #tourireland #igtravel #tourismireland #bucketlist #yourwayireland #wanderlust #loveireland #instatravel #vista #vacation #travelgram #irelandtravel #irishcentral #roadtrip #wanderireland #theopen #golfcourse

Connemara, County Galway A lonely shack in the wilds of Connemara. We have the best job in the world and we're not looking to stop any time soon - helping you to experience everything that Ireland has to offer can hardly even be called a job!! But when retirement eventually creeps up on us - you'll find us right here in Connemara . Coming from Galway, if you can make your way out to Tully Lough (no matter what route you take) you'll have seen something beautiful. Having said that, we're always particularly fond of the Inagh Valley route. With the Twelve Bens on your left and the Maumturk Mountains on your right, the Inagh Valley is quite possibly our favourite road in Ireland. On your left, you'll first pass Derryclare Lough and the scenery just gets better from there as you continue past Kylemore Abbey and into the north-west reaches of County Galway . . #ireland #irish #wildatlanticway #galway #cottage #travelbug #ireland_gram #nikon #lake #travel #visitireland #instaireland #discoverireland #connemara #vista #tourireland #igtravel #tourismireland #bucketlist #yourwayireland #wanderlust #loveireland #instatravel #vacation #travelgram #irelandtravel #irishcentral #roadtrip #wanderireland #nikonD3400

Cliffs of Moher, County Clare The highest point of these famous cliffs - they rise to 700ft just north of O'Brien's Tower which you can see here (if you really look carefully) perched atop the cliff-face. Granted, we do feature the Cliffs of Moher often but the weather was just so incredibly beautiful when we visited today that it seems a shame not to post a picture of it as soon as possible. Even if you don't catch the cliffs bathed in sunshine, don't let that put you off making the trip. Advice that holds true no matter where you travel in Ireland - if the weather is bad and looks like ruining your day, ignore it and stick to your plan. Our weather changes in an instant and some of the best scenery can be captured when the clouds look menacing . A perfect example of this can be found at the Cliffs of Moher. Yes, a foggy, misty day can ruin the view but try and wait until the weather clears and you can catch the incredible site of sea-spray and fog lifting up 200 ft over the cliffs . . #ireland #irish #clare #wildatlanticway #ireland_gram #nikon #travel #visitireland #travelbug #instaireland #cliffs #discoverireland #coast #mountain #tourireland #igtravel #tourismireland #bucketlist #yourwayireland #wanderlust #loveireland #instatravel #vista #vacation #travelgram #irelandtravel #irishcentral #roadtrip #wanderireland #nikonD3400

Kilkee Cliffs, County Clare While the northern half of County Clare sees its fair share of visitors flock to the Cliffs of Moher and the incredible sights of the Burren National Park, there's something rather special about the southern reaches of the county that really deserves to be explored . The Loop Head peninsula juts out from the charming seaside town of Kilkee where you have easy access to a fantastic cliff-side walk. From there, the ocean views really begin to match those that can be found further north along the coast at the Cliffs of Moher. At the tip of the peninsula, you'll find Loop Head Lighthouse - a fully active lighthouse with excellent tours available - and you'll also find some intriguing sites that you might not expect. On the entirely natural side of things is the fascinating sea stack, carved off from the mainland, known as Diarmuid and Gráinne’s Rock. Diarmuid and Gráinne are the most famous lovers of Irish mythology and, as such, the gap between the mainland and the sea stack is known as 'Lover's Leap' . Beside this, you'll also find a rather less natural landmark. The whitewashed 'EIRE' that can be seen from above is one of 83 such signs that were placed along the Irish coast during WW2 to let wartime pilots know that they were flying over neutral Ireland and they were not supposed to land here. Having been excavated by a team of volunteers in 2011, the EIRE sign at Loop Head is one of the most visible of these markings remaining today . ©️: @tourismireland . #ireland #irish #wildatlanticway #coast #clare #cliffs #vista #ireland_gram #travel #visitireland #instaireland #discoverireland #travelbug #tourireland #igtravel #tourismireland #bucketlist #yourwayireland #wanderlust #loveireland #instatravel #vacation #travelgram #irelandtravel #irishcentral #roadtrip #wanderireland #ocean

Muckross Head, County Donegal There are few places in the world where we'd prefer to sit back and relax into the surroundings than in County Donegal . In particular, the western coastline from the fishing port of Killybegs to the charming village of Ardara is a haven for stunning coastal scenery. Between Killybegs ans the stunning Sliabh Liag cliffs, Muckross Head is a small peninsula that really shows off when it comes to coastal scenery. Not only is this an area of natural beauty but this Gaeltacht (Irish-speaking) area is home to a community with strong ties to Irish linguistic and cultural identity and it really is a place that's impossible not to fall in love with . ©️: @tourismireland . #ireland #wildatlanticway #irish #donegal #ireland_gram #coast #beach #travel #visitireland #beachlife #instaireland #discoverireland #tourireland #igtravel #tourismireland #bucketlist #yourwayireland #wanderlust #loveireland #instatravel #vacation #travelgram #irelandtravel #irishcentral #roadtrip #travelbug #wanderireland
