Sabbath. It’s an interesting word. I can’t claim that I really know what it means in the original language. But I know that I appreciate what it stands for: a day of rest and worship. The truth is we are not machines. We aren’t made to work all the time. At the same time, work is good, and all of us who have health and strength and opportunity are privileged to work. I believe, however, that any good thing can be elevated to a place of disproportion. Work is good, but we are not made primarily for work. We are made primarily for God, who gives us work and purpose. But God did not make us to be robots or slaves. He created us for relationship with Him. And God says there are six days to work. That’s a lot of time to work and get things done. But He knows that’s not the only thing we need. We also need rest. And we need Him. And in His kindness, He set apart a day for rest. A day to stop working and enjoy Him. And I am SO thankful for the rhythm of Sabbath in my life. Because I work pretty hard. And I work a lot. Sometimes too much. I haven’t always, because I also have struggled with laziness. But being self-employed for as long as I have has shaped me. And with a new venture like Acrylic University there is always more to do. So, I’m thankful for Sunday. It has become more sweet to me even just this year. The thing is, I can’t even begin to explain how kind God has been to me. It is crazy why He would be so merciful. I have betrayed Him, cursed Him, spit in His face, ignored Him, refused Him, resisted Him... yet, still He loves me. He’s given me purpose, and He’s given me rest. I don’t have to fight anymore. I don’t have to prove my worth. I can lay down and rest because my soul is at peace. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavily burdened, and I will give you rest for your souls. Come to me and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jesus has become my Sabbath. Hoje eu estava andando no supermercado e de repente ouvi um barulho de coisas quebrando. Cruzei os corredores e vi algumas pessoas murmuravam em voz baixa. Quando entrei no corredor onde eles olhavam, vi uma cena triste. Uma senhora... Ela tinha batido com o carrinho numa prateleira de pratos e copos e muitos tinham caído. Ajoelhada, desesperada, juntava os pedaços, enquanto seu esposo pegava cada código de barra de cada louça quebrado dizendo: VIU? AGORA TERÁS QUE PAGAR TUDO ISSO! Cena triste. Alguém que errou, e com este espetáculo, todos os olhares eram direcionados para ela. Quando me ajoelhei ao lado dela para lhe explicar que não se preocupasse, veio um jovem, ajoelhou-se ao nosso lado e disse-lhe: -Deixe que o pessoal da limpeza recolhe. Vai para o hospital para que vejam essa ferida na tua mão! Ela olhou para ele envergonhada e disse: - Não. Tenho que juntar tudo isso pra pagar. O jovem disse: -Calma! Temos seguro para esse tipo de perda, e você não precisa pagar nada! Segue, vai! Quando o jovem se levantou, pude ver que ele tinha a identificação de gerente do supermercado. Pra você que leu até aqui, gostaria que me desse um minuto. Onde você estiver feche os olhos, imagine Deus fazendo o mesmo por você. Vai buscar os pedaços do teu coração pelos golpes que a vida tenha te dado. Vai curar-te de toda ferida e te garanto que os teus erros serão perdoados. Há um seguro chamado graça, que quando você reconhece que errou e o aceita como seu único e exclusivo Salvador, o gerente da existência do universo (Deus) vai te dizer: "Já está tudo pago...
