Santai Jalanan - 3 & 4 Nov 2018 1pm-3pm & 7pm-9pm What can you gain from an unexpected conversation with a group of strangers in the city? Santai Jalanan provides the opportunities for strangers in the city to meet and exchange stories about Kuala Lumpur and about their lives. Participants congregate as strangers but leave knowing an extra person in the city. Santai Jalanan sessions is chaired by a facilitator discussing a selected topic. 4. Home (Installation Art) - 3 & 4 Nov 2018 11am-11pm A home refers to the “place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household”. Kuala Lumpur is home to about 1.73 million people but not everybody’s home is the same. This installation challenges our understanding of home by showing the diversity of the “place where one lives permanently”, especially the home by the urban poor and less privileged. 5. Art Exhibition - 3 & 4 Nov 2018 11am-11pm Communities change as cities developed. This exhibition showcases a co-produced artworks among the communities in Jalan Panggong. It includes printed postcards from painted artworks, cardboard artworks with crayon, and etc. 6. Night Walk Cari Makan Experience - 3 & 4 Nov 2018 9pm-11pm How many faces does a city have? It always makes me wonder how they could survive through this all. How strong they truly are. // Food is cooked and shared fresh every Sunday- rain or shine,- to the urban poor, homeless, street friends or anyone who needs a hot meal. Lend a hand and join the true heroes that relentlessly care. @dapurjalanankl @kedaijalananum // The art project inclusive of rubber stamps crafted by local artist that are one and only. It resembles the oldest heritage in KL that is no longer around. Camera was given to the street friends to capture KL, to truly see the city through their eyes. Wooden stamp blocks are brought from Nepal. // “Kita Semula” is a collaborative and on-going arts project between Dapur Jalanan KL, Kedai Jalanan UM, caring communities as well as passionate individuals around Jalan Panggung in effort to create a more inclusive society. Literally meaning us, the Malay word “kita” is an inclusive term and “semula” means “again”, “once more”, “once again”. It also signifies “a second time” or more positively, “anew”. We understand these two words together as “second chances” and therefore offering multiple ways of “reconciliation”.
