✨T R U S T ✨ It’s the most important thing between a doctor and patient. It always has been and always will be. ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ We post before and afters, educational information, entertainment (we hope), things about me and our staff, and things about the office and our events. We’ll try to post more about patients and patient testimonials (if you want to do one—we’d love to have you do so ❤️), and other content so you get to know me and the office better. ✨ ✨ ✨ ✨ Know that we stand behind everything that we do at my practice ✨ Know that I am an expert—I can do some pretty amazing things (if I do say so myself) and I have the experience, skill and judgement to be able to make the right recommendations ✨ Know that I care about your results as much as you do (seriously!). ✨ Know that I don’t do it for the gram, I do it for my patients (and sometimes that coincides with the gram) ✨ Know that you can TRUST me and our staff with your skin, hair and body

Dermatology Myths Busted Myth: All dermatologists do mostly cosmetics. Fact: Absolutely not. For those of you who are not dermatologists, I bet you have a skewed view of what a dermatologist does. If you follow some dermatologists on IG, they are pretty dang awesome. But admittedly, there are a ton of posts on cosmetics, including Botox, fillers, lasers, and procedures. I am not saying that is not important...it is in different ways. But here’s the thing. Not all dermatologists do what you see on IG. There are thousands of dermatologists in the country and in the world who do little to no cosmetics and focus purely on medical dermatology. That means diagnosing and treating thousands of dermatologic skin conditions, like: Acne Rosacea Psoriasis Atopic dermatitis/eczema Vitiligo Autoimmune connective tissue disease (lupus, scleroderma) Autoimmune blistering conditions (bullous pemphigoid, pemphigus) Infectious diseases of the skin Genital and mucosal diseases Cutaneous lymphomas Melanoma, nonmelanoma skin cancer, merkel cell carcinoma, and other skin cancers Ethnic skin disorders Pigmentary disorders Hair loss Drug reactions Skin conditions in cancer patients and hospitalized patients Pediatric dermatology Solid organ and stem cell transplant patients The list goes on and on... It takes years of dermatology training and hundreds of hours reading and studying to learn the field of dermatology. Those who are board-certified in dermatology have to pass a rigorous exam testing all the nitty-gritty details that one needs to know to understand the skin, hair, nails, and mucosa. Today, there are amazing new targeted therapies that are treating common conditions like psoriasis and atopic dermatitis that were not available even a few years ago. It is the medical dermatologists who are treating these patients. If you or someone you know suffers from a medical skin condition, you understand the importance of a good medical dermatologist. Medical dermatology is an expertise and an art. It requires knowledge, practice, and clinical skill to do it well. Have you ever seen a dermatologist for a non-cosmetic reason? Aren’t you glad they knew what they were talking about?

Today is National Doctors Day. I wanted to reflect on why I chose medicine, so I pulled up my old medical school personal statement I wrote in college when I was applying to medical school. It struck a chord with me. It’s a nice reminder why I started this journey so long ago. I wanted to share a few lines I wrote: ... “Science has solved many unknowns about the body, but it is astounding to me how many mysteries are still to be revealed. This facet has drawn me to medicine – to be part of something amazing, piecing together information, and interacting with people to learn more about our bodies.” ... “I originally wanted to satisfy my interests in the intricacies of the human body, but then I discovered my underlying passion for connecting to patients and influencing them to be optimistic and proactive.” ... I still wholeheartedly feel this way 12 years after writing these words. The days fly by and often we can get caught up in the day-to-day work, logistics, and bureaucracy, but at the root of why I wake up each morning and look forward to going to work is simply this: the doctor-patient connection. ... I feel so honored my patients let me in their life, entrust me with their care, and allow me to do my best for them. Thank YOU. ... Tagging some of my fave docs above- wish I could tag so many more!! Tag some of your favorite docs below! What’s your favorite part of practicing medicine? ... #nationaldoctorsday
