Check out a clip of my last @suples.training.systems circuit before I compete this Saturday
.
Weight is on point, grappling on point, strength, confidence, and cardio is thru the roof, and I’m Excited to compete! Just another match....I’ve had over 500 just like it...time to have some fun!.
.
If you want to move like a combat athlete, don’t spend your time training in an ordinary gym - get Suples Strong! I’ll show you how
.
Banged up? Injured? No big deal! You, along with everyone else in combat sports is Battling an injury of some sort. The key is to have a “what’s next” mentality
.
“What’s next” means you accept your situation and focus on the next best thing. Instead of dwelling on how you feel, focus on making the best out of a bad situation
.
Think of Yianni in last years NCAa tournament? He didn’t even ask his trainers what was wrong after he knew something was torn - he just said “just tape it because I’m wrestling no matter what!” He talked about it on our podcast - check it out.
.
You’re bent not broken; and even if something is broken it can always be worse! So, always look for ways to adapt your training to keep your focus on things that get you better outside of your injured areas - technique, strength, recovery, flexibility, conditioning, etc
.
Injury recovery is a very mental process - make sure your mindset is on point throughout the process!
Getting ready to bench. Think about the task ahead of you. Visualize the movement. Be calm and focused. I learned all of that from fighting and i apply it in so many situations. If i am excited, i take a few deep breaths. If i have to concentrate, i take a few deep breaths. If i'm getting ready to bench, i take a few deep breaths and i focus myself. But then last second i pump myself up. I say to myself that i can do it...say it like Ronnie Coleman..."Light weight baby" and then get under the bar and press that weight. Then go in the ring and fight and believe that you are strong enough to beat your opponent. Just like you beat that weight, just like you beat your inner pig dog. Give yourself the mental edge. You can do it. That is what fighting taught me. And that is what i am trying to teach you. There are situations when you are scared, but believe me everybody feels that. It is just how you deal with that feeling.
