Here’s something that may be obvious to some but not to others. I hear a lot of mixes where the engineers do not delete the “dead space” or line up artists’ vocal layers or even live instrument layers such as guitars, drums etc. I know there are some plugins that do this for you but I’ve find it to be way tighter of a sound when I take the time to do this manually. The difference between a mix that has tight layers versus one that hasn’t been lined up is like night and day. PLEASE make sure you engineers are doing this with your tracks! Wow. 7 years. Hyperbits has existed for 7 freakin' years. That's insane. It feels like a lifetime ago...before I ever remixed Beyonce or Tove Lo, or started an online music school, I was miserable, disgruntled and completely lost working in corporate America. I hated my job. I couldn't believe I'd been 'preparing' my entire life, just to join the workforce and find myself so bored, sitting in a grey cubicle every day. I just couldn't wrap my head around it (and still can't). ... But then I got lucky. I got addicted to the world of electronic music. And that's when I learned that for me, the opposite of happiness isn't sadness...it's boredom. It's apathy. It's indifference. Once electronic music made it's way back into my life...that spark came back. It was the catalyst that got me excited again. And for anyone who has found that thing that makes them itch, there's pretty much no better feeling. ... But that doesn't mean it's been an easy ride. I've spent an insane amount of time working in a room...by myself, isolated. I don’t care how I spin it, that isn’t always fun. And at the same time, I've met so many amazing people, experienced so many incredible things, and I've built something that actually helps people. ... So hey, here I am 7 years later, and still working in music & entrepreneurship and still loving this journey. And in an age where everyone wants instant results, I just wanted to emphasize that my version of greatness or success (whatever that means) isn't achieved in a short time. It's a long journey, and I wouldn't have achieved much of anything if I only stuck with music production for 1 or 2 or even 3 years. The best things in life take time, and I'd be willing to bet that the same will hold true for the next few years. Here's to the journey…whatever you’re doing…stick with it <3

A little technique to get wider mix and achieve more clarity.
