The Gathering Spot | Y’all ever hosted a party at your house and notice everyone always gravitates towards the kitchen. I firmly believe it’s the most important part of a house. I love this kitchen. I wanted black cabinets so bad. Now that I have black appliances im thinking about painting it a darker grey. Something about a touch of dark moodier colors makes it look sophisticated. Anyways - can we talk about how these open shelves have been such a trend. I love them in photos, but for practicality purposes I don’t think they work. I’m not that organized lol what y’all think ? Practical or just for looks

Ah the four day bank holiday is upon us.... isn’t this the weekend most common for DIY projects? I won’t be partaking in such activities this year, you would think that after all the work we did last year that there’s nothing left to be done right? Well, I’ve been trying to ignore this for a few months now but what you can’t see in this view (gorgeous pic taken by @jemma_watts_photography ) is the massive damp patch that’s been getting increasingly worse half way up in the middle of the wall as you go up the stairs. Why oh why could this not have happened BEFORE we totally redecorated ‍♀️ oh the joys of 100+ year old victorian houses, the surprises just keep on coming. Anyway I shall continue to ignore it this weekend and look forward to some sunshine, time with friends and family and chocolate instead. What’s a few more days eh? Buyer’s Remorse | The state of feeling remorse after a major purchase. So - usually the remorse is immediately after a purchase and then subsides. With my renovation I feel like it’s been a year of on and off remorse. I have my days where I’m so confident in my decision and others regretting it. But today was one of those good days where I’m starting to see it come together and it all makes sense again. Sun came out after weeks (feels like) of rain. @loweshomeimprovement quoted me for blinds and it was way more affordable than I thought. So I took the wrapping paper off my windows and discovered how the light hits the kitchen - so beautiful. Thought it be nice to share some before + afters of one of my favorite rooms in the house.

Safety first, we moved out! #mydailyrenovation day 3. With two children under 5 and us renovating most of the downstairs and part of the garage, every spare room has been used for storing our belongings from the rest of the house. So once we got to the stage of the wall being knocked through, we agree to move out so the builders could crack on and do their job without worrying about us and the kids. Luckily for us we’ve been able to live at my parents’ house with a break at the in-laws.
