I can't decide if I love or hate this phase where I start a new project/platform, one thing is sure: it's very frustrating. I have to figure out what will work (in this case on Etsy) and I don't know if I will succed or not. But it's also pretty exciting. ♥I have to take new pictures of everything I've created but there never seems to be enough light 'cause it's still Winter in March... ♥I have to write longer and nicer descriptions of the things I made. ♥I have to post about it regularly on Tumblr and here. ♥ I'm very grateful for any advice, especially if you're a seller on Etsy! She looked up at me and explained, "We are doing a feminist reading of 'The Giving Tree'". . . Right, I thought. Why did the tree have to be reduced to a stump. Why do we see the natural world as only resource for our use and abuse? And why do we glorify that sort of unrestricted giving, especially of women, even if the giving is harming ourselves? . . Fast forward to reading about reciprocity in Robin Wall Kimmerer's book "Braiding Sweetgrass". She asserts that we need to go beyond sustainable practice with the earth into one of reciprocity. Yes, the trees give us plenty, but what are we giving them in return? . . So, all of this to introduce my version of Shel Silverstein's, "The Giving Tree" which I wrote and illustrated for the Summer Issue of Woolgathering. . .
