I have been running on empty and have been feeling overwhelmed and uninspired this past week, and therefore I decided to actively do something to prevent a complete burnout ❤️ ••• I have cancelled/postponed our plans for the next couple of weeks, including a busy weekend trip to Copenhagen - even though I had actually really been looking forward to it. I didn’t feel like I had the mental energy for handling stressful and hectic situations in a way that would be fair to any of us. ••• And instead I have just slowed down completely and have been focusing on my family and have just been present in the now. Focusing on the simple things. Like garden work. Composting. Cooking. Enjoying the sun. Being barefoot. My family. ••• I want to do and be a lot of things and I want to have creative energy and be social and active. But mostly I want to be happy and chill with and for my family and then everything else will come back naturally and gradually as I regain some more energy. ••• This is my self care #slowliving

When I say, I’m makeup free, I’m not saying that anyone who is not, is in any way less than I am. When I say, I like my natural look, I’m not saying I don’t like people who don’t go for a natural look. And when I say, I don’t wear makeup, because I don’t have anything to “make up” for and I like my face - I’m not saying, that you do have something to make up for, that it is why you wear makeup or that you don’t like your face. ••• I’m not talking about you. I’m talking about myself and my personal healing, self love and gained confidence in my own skin. ••• I used to get up several hours before leaving the house, so I could put on makeup. I did not like my face without it. I wanted an airbrushed and perfect look all the time and otherwise I would not leave the house. I was not comfortable in my own skin at all. I was insecure and vain to a point, where it had a negative impact on my everyday life. ••• Giving up makeup is a personal accomplishment for me. It is a sign of personal growth and a sign that I have found peace with my natural self. I feel confident and I love my face as it is. I never thought, I would get to this point. This has been one of my many steps toward a more simple and minimalist life. I am happy and I have room to focus on other and more important things in my life. ••• What other people’s relationship with makeup is, takes nothing away from the relationship I have with makeup. What my relationship with makeup is, takes nothing away from your relationship with makeup. We each have different backgrounds, journeys, issues, passions, views, values, genetics etc. ••• It’s not a contest. It’s not virtue signalling. It’s not a fight or a reason to divide us. ••• You do you and I do me ❤️
