You don't have to forget you have a life, emotions, a family to take care for, friends and hobbies because you are doing a PhD. Expecting people to erase their own life for doing experiments, publishing papers, producing results constantly, is madness! Preventing students to book holidays, take sick leaves or enjoy their extra time or weekends is non-human and also pretty illegal to be fair! . HOW DID JULY GO? #LINKINBIO . I have come to realise that I have a big problem. The way I approach my life, especially my work life is a bit unhealthy because I always push my body and mind to its limit . Since a very young age, my anxiety, my feeling of inadequacy and poor self-esteem made me work like crazy. It is very sad and I am not happy about the fact that the reason for my constant achievements is due to my anxiety. This is not what I want from my life anymore and I am trying to adopt more healthy and sustainable routines to achieve as much without constantly burning out, lacking sleep and relying on painkillers. GRATITUDE FRIDAY . Friday afternoon is usually the time when I stop doing everything, sit down and write down all the accomplishments of the week. I've been a lot under pressure this week trying to finish up experiments in the lab ‍, writing up my thesis ‍ and booking a conference in Vienna for the summer. . It's so easy to fall into the trap of not achieving much, enough or anything at all when you don't see a quick and instantaneous result from your experiment.
