Chia seeds found in this fat-burning, cleansing potion are known for their effects on our health, as they contain lots of proteins, fiber, and minerals such as calcium, all of which support our metabolism and digestive system, making them more efficient in using stored fats for energy, as well as in expelling waste!

When mixed with water, chia seeds form a gelatinous mass that is very filling, making this drink an excellent breakfast!

Another key ingredient in this recipe is lemon juice. We all know that lemons are rich in vitamin C, which supports our immune system’s ability to fight and prevent disease. Lemon also has tons of antioxidants in it that help our organism expel any unwanted guests, such as parasites, toxins, and bacteria!

INGREDIENTS:
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
Juice from 1 freshly squeezed lemon
300 ml filtered water
Optional: Add date sugar to sweeten

✅ INSTRUCTIONS:
Add 100ml of water to a large cup and add the chia seeds to it. Let the seeds soak in water for one hour, until gelatinous mass forms on its own. Add the rest of the water, as well as the lemon juice to the mix. Mix with a spatula for a minute, until the ingredients are well-incorporated, add optional date sugar last!

The plastic wrapping prevents organic and non-organic bananas alike from ripening too fast! The plastic helps contain ethylene gas, which bananas produce naturally while they ripen. Without the plastic wrap, the ethylene gas spreads to other parts of the fruit, causing it to ripen faster.

In a food processor, add: 1.5 cups oats, 2 tbsp agave or sweetener of your choice, 1/2 cup coconut flour, 1 tbsp vanilla extract, 1 tbsp baking powder, 100 to 150g of bananas, and a pinch of salt. Pulse! Pulse! Bake at 350F until golden brown or 15-20 min. For the top layer blend: 1/2 cup almond milk, 3 cups frozen blueberries, and optional 1 tsp agar powder. Changing what you drink is one of the most foundational swaps you can make to help elevate your overall health and aid with weight loss. I want to prevent you from making the same mistakes I did so I thought I would share this helpful chart! While it’s totally great to treat yourself to fun drinks, make sure what you’re drinking on a daily basis is nourishing you, not depleting you ❤️

Water should always be a priority on your list because even mild dehydration (1-3% of body weight) can impair many aspects of brain function plus trigger headaches and migraines in some individuals. I always start my day with anywhere from 16oz-32oz water since you essentially wake up dehydrated from the night. If drinking enough water is not a habit for you yet, try setting reminders on your phone to drink every 2 hours or keep a full bottle at your desk!

Other high quality drinks to add to repertoire are protein shakes (feel free to add your own fruit at home since that’s the good kind of sugar paired with fiber), lower-sugar kombucha, teas, coffee and actually green green juices!

Drinks to minimize include:
sodas
juices since they remove the fiber from the fruit and act similarly in your body to other sugary drinks
fake green juices - really just fruit juice with a kale leaf added
store-bought smoothies - sugar-bombs in disguise
frappucinos - sugar with a side of coffee .

For our filling: 1 carrot, 1 green squash, 1 red bell pepper, about 2 cups of mushrooms, 1/3 cup pecans, 1/4 cup chives, 1 lime, 1/2 tbsp agave (optional), salt, pepper, pinch of cumin, 1/3 cup cilantro, and garlic. For the salsa: 2 juicy mangos, habanero (you decide how much), half of lime, salt, agave if its too spicy, and 1 avocado. Add water if needed when blending.”

SUMMER BBQ IDEA (ok I know it’s winter here in NZ but I gotta keep it real for my northern hemisphere babes, so let’s get to it)
ASIAN-STYLE TEMPEH KEBAB WITH BELL PEPPERS AND SEARED BOK CHOY What you’ll need
1 block organic tempeh
1/4 cup tamari
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1 shake chilli flakes
1 tbsp coconut sugar
1 tbsp peanut butter
1 yellow pepper
1 green pepper
1 red pepper
1 head of bok choy
Black pepper, sea salt and olive oil
Chop up the tempeh into cubes. In a shallow bowl, add the tamari, sesame oil, chilli flakes, coconut sugar and peanut butter and mix well. Add the tempeh and let it marinate for at least 30 mins.
Chop up the bell peppers and add the peppers & tempeh cubes along the skewers, alternating colours. Pour some olive oil on top of the skewers.
Seperate the bok choy leaves and top with pepper, salt and sesame oil. Drizzle with olive oil. Put both foods on the BBQ. The tempeh should cook about 5-6 minutes each side until thoroughly cooked. Serve the kebabs and bok choy with some avocado or roasted BBQ potatoes for a little festive dinner did you know tempeh is a fermented food + packed with protein!? It’s great for gut health (in moderation), supporting the immune system and great for muscle recovery and repair.
