I love keeping my repertoire diverse, and enjoy singing music from the Baroque period to music composed this year! Although I am in the middle of a run of performances of Rossini’s ‘Il turco in Italia,’ at @operzuerich, I am taking a little jump back in time about 100 years, to 1732, to perform Caldara’s ‘La morte d’Abel.’ This touching oratorio is based on the biblical story of Abel, and I will be performing it as part of the Pavia festival in Italy. Fun fact: I am not the only musical time traveler...my costar @nahueldipierro sings opposite me in both ‘Il turco in Italia,’ as Selim, and ‘La morte d’Abel,’ as Adamo! •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Varions les plaisirs ce soir avec un peu de musique baroque! Entre 2 représentations du “Turco in Italia” de Rossini, je vais faire un petit saut dans le temps et l’espace pour chanter un oratorio de Caldara “La morte d’Abel” (1732), au festival de musique sacrée de Pavia. Freddie & Montsy (Part 5) . La gentileza "You have the gentleness" and Freddie's hmhmm (of course freddies the paragon of gentleness ❤ ) . Again Montserrat can't resist speaking English for Freddie: "Out of this world" And Freddie's cutest laugh of appreciation . Interviewer: Freddie would you like this song to become the official song for the Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992? . Freddie: Yes! Yes! (I love how he automatically says YES YES like a little boy in a toy store in the middle of the question before the interviewer can even finish her question ) . Montsy saying "oh really" and bursting into laughter like a school girl in love reaching for Freddie's hand is just heart melting (self control goes out the window when you're next to Freddie Mercury ) ❤ . Freddie: "I hope they take it. If they don't like it I'll write another one for them." (And he looks at Montsy to see her laugh again ) . "But I mean you can't go much stronger than just saying Barcelona I mean it tells you everything I mean it's sport if right there. Well I hope the people in Barcelona or in fact everybody I hope they'll like it." (And that cute expression on his face and reaching for his drink holding it with such class) . P.S. So there you have it another snippet of Fredserrat (yes it was about time I came up with a nickname for these two love birds)... a match made in heaven ❤ . This Sunday, I am honored to receive an @opera.news Honoree Award in New York City. So often, we are focused on the future, and what roles are coming up, but this award marks a special moment in my career which makes me pause and reflect on how I arrived at this point. I thought it might be fun if we walked down memory lane together this week, and share some memories that I hold dear. Maybe you are a part of that memory? Were you in the audience, or were you one of my colleagues on stage? Playing Adina in the @deutscheoperberlin’s production of ‘L’elisir d’amore’ was a blast.
