Huge news!!! Yoga is one step closer to being in the Olympics! By the invitation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), delegates from the International Yoga Federation participated in the GAISF congress held on July 20, 2018 in Lausanne, Switzerland. Akif Manaf, the president of the International Yoga Federation taking action to engage in Olympics, has said: “We primarily took the first step in 2016 for yoga to appear as a sporting event in the Olympic Games. From that time, we have kept establishing essential contacts to make progress. Within this context, we participated in the GAISF Info-Day congress (Lausanne, Switzerland on July 20, 2018) and agreed upon the next steps with the GAISF authorities. Therefore, we can now announce to all Yoga sportsmen that thanks to the efforts of the International Yoga Federation, Yoga is now accepted as a sports branch internationally, and a new step has been taken for it to take place in the Olympics.”
