#MyMonthMaking time!! I worked hard the first half of May so I could take more than two weeks off! I had so much fun making the “I Yam A Donkey” peg and cube. They were both a challenge to get started—but so rewarding! For the first time, I collaborated with my niece to make several peg sets inspired by her drawings. (I hope we do more!) I had the opportunity to create two more of my weather peg sets—I still love all those clouds! And a belated spring bunny! :: :: Not bad! I’m back from vacation and in the crafting groove, once again! Peg dolls & Vintage Fisher Price Little People! Two of our favorites! .. .. @beespegs commented on a previous post that showed my wooden peg dolls at their vintage Fisher Price Little People house, wondering how compatible their sizes are. There’s definitely some size differences, but it absolutely can work! .. .. My observations.... The 3+in peg dolls barely fit in the house, but would be great attractions in the circus train. (Harry Potter’s Hargrid would still be welcome at our house!) The 2+in peg man is similar in height. But he’s not tapered like the FP men, making it very hard to sit in chairs or fit in vehicles. He’s too tall to board our FP airplane, unless reclined. The 2+in peg woman is slightly taller and definitely more slender. She made need safety restraints in vehicles, if they aren’t operated slowly. The 2in peg girl (with or without skirt) is a great fit. Without a skirt, she still has an inset base that allows her to gently sit on chairs. The 1+in peg child / baby / tot would be great little friends in the FP house, with some supervision! .. .. Library Collection: “I Yam A Donkey” Grammar Cube! This silly little book was endlessly quoted around my house while I was brainstorming and working on my donkey peg dolls. I just couldn’t let the basic grammar lessons out of my head, and realized I wanted to make something featuring them! “I am.” “You are.” “He is.” “She is.” “They are.” “We are.” It wasn’t log before I realized I had a cube on my hands! .. It’s a little project like this that makes me happy I have some random wooden shapes laying around! I’m prepared when an idea strikes! .. I had to push through the thought that I could easily take a teacher’s resource I found online and quickly decoupage it instead of painstakingly painting it. But once it started taking shape, I was so excited I was making the effort! I’m so glad I caved and got a few dozen Cadbury mini eggs this year! I thought I’d use the plastic egg crates for tiny (1inch) dolls, but they hold the heads of the 2in peg men quite well!
