National Pollinator Week is this week (June 17-23)! But pollinator week should be every week. Please help us educate others about the perils that pollinators face and the things we can do to help them. PLANT NATIVE VARIETIES OF THESE TO HELP SAVE THE BEES: 21 BEE-FRIENDLY PLANTS by Hannah Rosengren is a great conversation starter. Everyone can appreciate a beautiful and colorful garden that also helps the bees! But did you know... retail nurseries and garden centers sell bee-killing plants pre-treated with neonicotinoid insecticides? That's right stores across the nation may be selling plants pre-treated with Bayer-Monsanto and Syngenta's neonics that are killing our pollinators, while advertising them as "bee-friendly" plants. The best option is to buy organic - synthetic pesticides are prohibited in organic growing. If you don't have organic options, ask the retailer if the plant has been treated with neonics. If they have been treated or the employees don't know, do not buy and let them know why you're not buying. Then ask the retailer to completely phase out the use of neonics and synthetic pesticides on plants. If enough people speak up and boycott pesticide-treated plants, retailers will change. As a matter of fact, YOU have already been making a difference over the last 4 years. Home Depot has stated that 98% of their plant products are neonicotinoid-free, and the ones that have neonics are labeled. Lowe's claimed they would phase out neonic-treated plants by spring 2019. In fact, most large retailers have pledged to phase out plants pre-treated with neonics. But to be sure the retailers aren't dragging their feet, we still need to speak up and keep the pressure on until garden centers are 100% neonic-free and organic options are offered. Your voice (and wallet) makes a difference! Insectageddon link in bio! Hannah Rosengren is a freelance illustrator from Maine. You’ve likely heard how #cleaning or #detoxifying your body can have #tremendous #health benefits. It’s true. A #detox or #cleansing can help your body get rid of #harmful #toxins like #pesticides, #heavymetals, and #volatile #organic compounds. This is essential for your body, because under normal circumstances, these #toxins slowly build up in your #tissues. If you don’t #detoxify or #clean regularly, toxins can build up to the point where they cause some serious health problems. The concern with time travel is fact that if one little thing was changed in the past, then it would be a domino effect altering the proceeding events ultimately rewriting history. This metaphor is how I think of the ecosystem. Adding or removing elements will have a drastic chain reaction in nature. For example, deciding to reach for pesticides to chemically control a bug infestation can cause huge consequences. You’re not only adding chemicals that will seep into the soil changing microbiology, but you could be removing a food source from an important member of the ecosystem . On the other hand, you want to control a pest problem biologically thinking that it is safer, so you invite in a foreign predator. We have seen that backfire hard here in California wiping out crops and throwing off the natural order. The best thing to do if you have a bug problem in my opinion is 1. Watch. Take note. How long does the infestation last for ? Maybe it’s only a few weeks. In that case if it’s only a season, allow nature to work. 2. Syringing. It’s when you spray off with the hose any aphids or other piecing-suckling-mouth-part insects. That has been 100% effective for me, even with more finicky plants like roses! You just need to have a good eye and persistence. . Photos are the Anza Borrego superbloom because the desert is pretty too. Catechol is a white crystalline solid, commonly used in the synthesis of pesticides and pharmaceuticals . Industrially , it is produced from phenol and hydrogen peroxide. It is also a common building block for organic synthesis , and several commercial flavours like vanillin are synthesised from catechol. Historically, it was used as a black-and-white photographic developer . What's the Difference? There is some confusion about what the USDA Organic and the Non-GMO Project Verified labels mean. Here's what you need to know: Non-GMO Project Verified does NOT mean Organic or grown without synthetic pesticides. Non-GMO Project Verified means conventionally grown from non-GMO seeds and with testing of the supply chain/product to make sure there is no more than nine tenths of 1% GMO contamination (this is the same standard used in the EU). Conventionally grown non-GMO foods can still be grown with synthetic agrichemicals, such as Roundup, dicamba, neonicotinoids, chlorpyrifos, etc. Certified Organic is a regulated standard where the crops must be grown from organic seeds (GMO seeds are not allowed) and without toxic, synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and other synthetic chemicals. But it is important to know that there is little testing for potential GMO contamination and crops may go to market even if they are heavily contaminated, as long as the grower shows that they did not purposely plant with GMO seeds. So for high-risk GMO ingredients (not everything is GMO) such as corn, soy, sugar from sugar beets, canola, cottonseed oil, potatoes... look for BOTH the USDA Organic AND the Non-GMO Project Verified butterfly labels to avoid toxic synthetic pesticides and GMO contamination. Happy shopping! NOTE: BEWARE FAKE NON-GMO labels. The Non-GMO Project butterfly label is the only one that's trustworthy! #USDAOrganic #organic #NonGMOProjectVerified #NonGMOProject #pesticides #food #contamination #Health #Holistic #HolisticHealth #FoodSafety #HealthyFood #BoycottGMOs #toxinfreeusa #gmofreecanada #gmofreeusa

[TOXINES] du quotidien... Quelles sont-elles et que faire pour lutter ? .
