| 1500 BABILÔNIA Originally located in New York, the gallery specialised in Brazilian photography was relocated to Morro da Babilônia in 2014. The decision was made by the personal history of its owner, which dates back to the film Orpheus Negro, by Marcel Camus, filmed in the alleys of the favela community 55 years before. The project, which started with the reuse of the works of an unfinished home, produced a space that spirals up to reveal a beautiful view of Leme beach. The project was a finalist at the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP) in Chicago. Originalmente localizada em Nova Iorque, a galeria especializada em fotografia brasileira foi relocada para o Morro da Babilônia em 2014. A decisão se deu pela história pessoal de seu proprietário, que remonta ao filme Orfeu Negro, de Marcel Camus, filmado nas vielas da comunidade 55 anos antes. O projeto, que partiu do reaproveitamento das obras de um barraco inacabado, produziu um espaço que ascende em espiral para descortinar uma bela vista da praia do Leme.
