How I’m teaching my children math for FREE This is a long overdue post! While I love to share DIYs & Montessori materials, my 5yo has learned everything from counting to multiplication/fractions mostly with things around the house, park, & beach. No apps & rarely workbooks! Math is all around us; teaching can often be spur-of-the-moment & incorporated throughout the day. Details are currently on the homepage of my website & IG stories! Hope it answers FAQs; let me know if you have any questions! ————— Re: painted rocks in the photo, here’s how to make them: Materials (in my Amazon store, link in profile) 1️⃣ Rocks (eg from garden or beach) 2️⃣ Acrylic paint (We use Apple Barrel brand) 3️⃣ Optional: Modge Podge Instructions: 1️⃣ Wash debris off rocks, let dry 2️⃣ Paint rocks - several coats are needed for vibrant color 3️⃣ Optional: Seal rocks. We only did this for one of each color (far right) but didn’t like the texture so left the rest plain. Heidi @the_harmony_tree_house #Repost @budding.and.blossoming • • • • • DIY Ball Tracker. Alfred was given a beautiful wooden tracker by his grandparents but the small cars still end up in his mouth. Until he stops putting things in his mouth, I wanted him to have a chance to use a tracker and I didn’t want to pay over $80 for a larger sized one! I thought he’d like one with a clear hole as he loves putting things in holes. Thankfully I already had things at home to make one - 2 x cardboard boxes (I used nappy boxes), 1 x poster storage roll, and some bread ties that come with freezer bags. I will put up photos of how I made it in my stories and then add this to my highlights. Tracking toys are good for: • Focusing on a moving object • Preparing the eyes for reading and writing • Hand-eye coordination when putting the ball through the hole He tracks movement everyday in real life e.g watching children ride bikes or scooters at the park (being at a distance makes this much easier), watching our dogs run back and forth while playing, watching balls roll around on our wooden floorboards, simply watching people walking!
